The first compilation that brings together French groups who sing in English. English has always been taboo in the "made in France" song until the mid-2000s when a folk refrain called Chupee invaded the French airwaves. Ten years after the international success of the French electro touch, the English language took over French song. From then on, a veritable Anglophone tidal wave took over musical production in France and the doors of success opened wide for a mode of expression until then completely ignored by the media. As a result, in 2009, the Victoires de la Musique rewarded groups expressing themselves in the language of Shakespeare (Izia, Pony Pony Run Run…) Cocoon, Izia, Pony Pony Run Run, Moriarty, The Do, Coming Soon, Herman Düne, Revolver, etc. : review of the numbers of French groups (rock, pop or folk) who express themselves… "in English in the text"!

2014 two CD collection. EXOTICA CLASSICS comprises five original masterpieces of the exotica genre. Amongst connoisseurs, the albums by Miriam Burton, Bob Romeo, Buddy Collette and Frank Hunter have acquired great mystique both because of their rarity and their sheer class. We are pleased to make all of these most elusive of rare gems available together in a double disc package. The set also features the soprano Marni Nixon, whose versatility ranged from sessions with Igor Stravinsky and Robert Craft to dubbing the singing voices of Deborah Kerr (in the movie the King and I), Natalie Wood (West Side Story) and Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady).

The Dawn of Psychedelia charts the course of the artistic momentum that had been gathering internationally from the mid nineteenth century. From Dante Gabriel Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelites to Lewis Carroll, progressing through Art nouveau. Aubrey Beardsley, Erik Satie and The Sitwells. Dada, Marcel Duchamp. The Surrealists: Dali and Bunuel and Miro. Edgard Varèse, the Father of Electronic Music , the Matinee Idol of Modernism and musical guru of Frank Zappa. Aldous Huxley's 'holiday from reality' and the yearning of he and such prophets (or charlatans?) as Timothy Leary to attain the cosmic conciousness of unity, light and love. Abstract Expressionism, Jackson Pollock & the sculptor Alaxander Calder. The Alice B Toklas Cook Book. The mysteries of Indian classical music & its introduction in the west (Ravi Shankar, Vilayat Khan, Ali Akbar Khan & his brilliant disciple, Sharan Rani). The pioneering of Sun Ra and the jazz-hybrids created by such figures as Ken Nordine, Yusef Lateef, Herbie Mann & Gabor Szabo as each sought to break the boundaries of convention.

The release of Jazzactuel reclaims from obscurity a remarkable period of avant-garde music. Compiled by devoted fans Thurston Moore and Byron Coley, this three-CD box set compiles free jazz, electronic, and psychedelic rock tracks originally released in the late '60s and early '70s by the French label BYG. According to the informative, but at times overzealous, liner notes, the BYG sessions originated from a music festival held in Paris in 1969 that was headlined by such American free jazz legends as Sunny Murray, Dave Burrell, Grachan Moncur III, and Archie Shepp.

Two-Piers brings you their latest killer compilation in the shape of Richard Norris Presents 'Weird Scenes from the Hangout (Psychedelic & Freakbeat Dancefloor Anthems 1967-1982). An album curated by Richard Norris (The Grid, Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve, The Time and Space Machine, and more) and centered around Richard's Liverpool Club Night 'The Hangout' in the 1980's. Richard Norris on how The Hangout came about after being inspired to go to University in Liverpool… For a place with a distinctly psychedelic tinge, Liverpool was missing one thing in the mid-eighties. A full-on psychedelic club night. I'd been schooled in all things psychedelic, a result of working at Bam Caruso, a label steeped in psych who lovingly reissued many lysergic greats.

The whole package is as lively musically as it looks on the cover – and there's plenty of groovy gems on here that we've never stocked before on any other title! Includes "Skyscrapers" by Santi Latora, "No No No" by Paolo Ormi, "Superstar" by Santi Latora, "Che Meraviglia" by Elza Soares, "Batticuore" by Renato Serio, "Rive Blanche" by Bruno Nicolai, "Aquarius" by Elio Gandolfi, "Love On Love" by Orchestra King Zerand, "Saudade De Nise" by Zeta One, "I Bikini" by Piero Piccioni, and the Italian-language "Passo Le Mie Notti Qui Da Solo", a rare early tune by Stevie Wonder! © 1996-2025, Dusty Groove, Inc

2015 five CD set. Creation Records was one of the most important, vital independent labels of the 80s and 90s, born in the post-punk era and progressing to define the Britpop generation. Creation Artifact is the first comprehensive box set devoted to the early years of Creation Records. The label was born from a hip London club night and won the plaudits with a string of limited edition 7" singles and a handful of albums - including the acclaimed debut 'Upside Down' by the Jesus & Mary Chain. During this period 1983-1985, the label also issued vinyl by Primal Scream (their debut 45), The Pastels, The Bodines, The Loft, The Membranes, The Jasmine Minks et al. Housed in a lavish 'book' set, Creation Artifact pays tribute to that seminal period with two discs comprising early A's and B's, a third CD of rarities and album tracks, another comprising previously unissued demos and a fifth disc of rare BBC sessions. Awash with rare memorabilia, a 12,000-word essay from journalist Neil Taylor, band biographies, personal reminiscences and numerous archive finds, Creation Artifact is the ultimate tribute to the dawn of Creation Records 1983-1985!

Most of the albums being highlighted produced huge hit singles that have become both synonymous with the decade and enduringly popular – but these albums are of such a high quality – forever part of the artist’s legacy - that other tracks could have equally become hits – and some have become as well-loved by fans as the singles, and have for many artists always been an established part of their live shows.

This is the 22nd in the “… By The Bayou” series, and the 8th to go “Boppin’”. “Feel So Good” is the subtitle of this compilation and also of one of Bill & Carroll’s rockabilly tracks, cut by Eddie Shuler and leased to Don Pierce who placed it on Starday’s Dixie subsidiary. Confusion was caused when the “&” was left out of their name and the record was consequently thought to be by Bill Carroll, a solo artist

The songs don't necessarily hang together in a musically coherent way, but the performances are generally very good, and the collection does do a good job of setting the mood it aims to create.

Boss reggae productions from the legendary Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. An abundance of rare tracks & alternate takes. A follow-up to the popular ‘People Funny Boy’ collection. After making an explosive start to his career as an independent record producer with his groundbreaking hit, ‘People Funny Boy’, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry further cemented his reputation as one of Jamaica’s most creative music makers with singles issued on his Upsetter label peppering the local charts throughout the remainder of 1968 and well into the next year. By this time, the UK’s leading Jamaican music specialists, Trojan Records were releasing his work in Britian, where both Jamaican ex-pats and the rapidly growing number of ‘skinhead’ reggae fans were drawn to his often-quirky instrumental recordings, performed by The Hippy Boys, a tight 4-piece combo that Perry credited rebranded as The Upsetters on his releases.
