Between dozens of recordings made from 1937 to 1950, legendary French gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt waxed one, maybe two titles of solo guitar per year. Often it was less than that. Sometimes he made them at the request of the producers, who surely heard him warming up and decided to capture on records some of that magic atmosphere. Then Django took his instrument and performed whatever was on his mind: in occasions fully developed solo compositions; another times, instantly made up improvisations. This outstanding CD comprises them all for the first time in chronological order, including some very rare tracks and a recently discovered solo from a radio program as a bonus track.

World-renowned acoustic and electric bassist Brian Bromberg hasn’t released an album in the U.S. since 2012, a fact that might not have been cause for concern if you know that at one point he released three albums in one year. Every man deserves a break. However, once you realize that this chameleon with over 20 projects in his catalog recently had reason to believe that he might never play music again, you understand the gravity of his latest acoustic jazz project, Full Circle - one he says may well be “the most important record of my career.” Like all of his work, Bromberg’s latest features a stellar cast that includes trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, saxophonists Bob Sheppard, Kirk Whalum and Doug Webb, pianists Randy Waldman,Mitch Forman and Otmaro Ruiz, and percussionist Alex Acuña. The project also finds ‘the man that refuses to sit still’ mixing styles from New Orleans funk and a legit jazz cover of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop `Til You Get Enough” to Cubop - with a sizzling relentless swing throughout.

Robert Plant launched the Digging Deep podcast in 2019 as a way for him to explore the intricacies and oddities of his body of work. A year later, he released Digging Deep: Subterranea, a double-disc deep dive that effectively functions as a soundtrack to the podcast. Plant talks about Led Zeppelin tunes on Digging Deep but Subterranea pointedly concentrates on his solo career. It's a compilation that strives to make overarching connections, so it doesn't proceed in a chronological order, nor does it have all of his hits. Neither his oldies folly The Honeydrippers or Raising Sand, his Grammy-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, are here, nor are there big rock radio hits like "Little By Little" and "Tall Cool One." Instead, Digging Deep: Subterranea places 1993's Fate Of Nations at the forefront and follows its strands front and back, creating a moody, adventurous bit of autobiography. Maybe it doesn't deliver the hits the way most compilations do but it certainly captures the musical wanderlust that defines Plant's career.

ELO Part II were a band formed by Electric Light Orchestra drummer and co-founder Bev Bevan. The band also included former ELO bassist Kelly Groucutt, and violinist Mik Kaminski for most of its career, along with conductor Louis Clark who toured as a guest with ELO in its later years. After Bevan left the band in late 1999, he sold his half of the rights to the Electric Light Orchestra name back to Jeff Lynne, and the band changed its name to The Orchestra. Electric Light Orchestra Part Two is an album released by ELO Part II in 1990. "Kiss Me Red" was originally from Cheap Trick's album, The Doctor. In March 1991 "Honest Men" charted at number 60 on the UK Singles Chart, and 36 on the Dutch Top 40 chart.

The hard-hitting, melodic heavy metal band Alcatrazz will once again throw down a studio gauntlet on July 31st 2020 with Born Innocent, their first studio venture since 1986’s Dangerous Game. Alongside the unique vocal prowess and range of star frontman and founding member Graham Bonnet, Born Innocent also features fellow founding members Jimmy Waldo and Gary Shea. And from the classic album art, featuring the mighty rock itself, Born Innocent is a journey into the sort of heavy, melodic and supremely articulated hard rock that is a cornerstone of the likes of Rainbow and the Michael Schenker Group, territory Alcatrazz successfully strode in the ‘80s before going on hiatus.

From 1910 through to the late 1940s the big bands were on the main branches of the entertainment business that truly reflected the changing demands and economic climate of the age. Playing the popular music of the day, these bands fuelled the dance craze that swept the American Continent. This monster includes all of the bands that made the U.S. swing.

Debussy's song cycle Ariettes oublieesof 1888 set six poems from Paul Verlaine's collection Romances sans paroles, beginning with C'est l'extase and Il pleure dans mon coeur - penetratingly poetic images of love's ecstasy and rainlike tears of despair. The six Ariettesare the departure point for the arrangement realized in 2012 by British composer Robin Holloway in response to a request from the San Francisco Symphony. Holloway has altered their order while adding a further four Debussy songs, binding the whole work together with brief orchestral links and a feverish epilogue, 'con moto agitato'. This world first recording is given by French soprano Vannina Santoni, with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the baton of Mikko Franck. The Finnish conductor, a great admirer of Debussy, here also presents the master's bewitching masterpiece La mer, first heard in Paris in 1905.

The emotional sweep of these marvellous works, reflecting the vicissitudes of Schumann’s complex personal life at the time, calls for a pianist wholly responsive to their fervent Romanticism. The artistry of Stephen Hough proves ideal.

Scarecrow is the eighth studio album by John Mellencamp. Released in September 1985, it peaked at #2 on the U.S. chart. This album contained three Top 10 hits, a record for a Mellencamp album: "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.," which peaked at #2 in the U.S.; "Lonely Ol' Night," which peaked at #6; and "Small Town," which also peaked at #6. "Lonely Ol' Night" also peaked at #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, his second chart-topping single on this chart. In 1989, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Scarecrow #95 on its list of the 100 greatest albums of the 1980s, saying: "Scarecrow consolidated the band's rugged, roots-rock thrash and the ongoing maturation of Mellencamp's lyrics." The overall theme of the album is the fading of the American dream in the face of corporate greed. Rolling Stone wrote that songs such as "Face of the Nation," "Minutes to Memories" and "Small Town" have a "bittersweet, reflective tone."

At the centre of these world premiere recordings is what is believed to be the only surviving work of Franz Xaver Hassl (1708-1757), a composer barely known to us these days, Hassl wrote the trio sonatas whilst director of music at the Prince-Bishop's court in Pruntrut/Porrentruy where they were most likely performed within an ecclesiastical setting. The sonatas are framed by three sacred arias found in a song collection by Zurich's town trumpeter, Johann Ludwig Steiner (1688-1761) and a selection of canzonettas by Johan Freidrich Agricola (1722-1774) illustrating the secular side of this charming 'galant' music.

That Don't Make Me a Bad Guy is the twelfth studio album from American country music artist Toby Keith. The album was released October 28, 2008 on Show Dog Nashville, Keith's own label, and was produced by Keith himself. He wrote or co-wrote all the songs on this album, collaborating with Bobby Pinson on all but three. Lead-off single "She Never Cried in Front of Me" became a number one hit for Keith on the Billboard country charts in late October 2008, as did "God Love Her", the second single, in March 2009. A third single, "Lost You Anyway", was released on March 16, 2009. The album was certified Gold in December 2008.
