Most 45s enjoyed strong airplay, particularly 'Ciao Baby' and 'You've Got To Be Loved' (which charted in the US), but in the UK they never reached the charts which, considering the strength of the material, is one of life's mysteries! Contains all the Pye recordings including the US 45 'I'm Gonna Change' and the MAM and Charisma recordings. Digitally remastered and slipcased, and with new notes.

Yes didn't invent progressive rock, but they helped bring it to mainstream audiences, steering the development and definition of the genre. Once their classic lineup of Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, and Bill Bruford locked into place for 1971's Fragile, the band crystallized all of the sonic and visual signifiers that eventually became synonymous with prog rock. Yes shifted between complicated time signatures, spliced pastoral folk, and Baroque classical in their muscular rock & roll, structured their songs as mini-suites, and wrapped the entire package in fantastical artwork by Roger Dean.

River of Music the new album from “musical marvels” the Kanneh-Masons (The Guardian) reunites all seven siblings – Isata, Braimah, Sheku, Konya, Jeneba, Aminata and Mariatu – following the success of Carnival (2020). The album features new arrangements of classical works and folk songs, with the centrepiece being Schubert’s Trout Quintet – a beloved family favourite the siblings grew up listening to together. Recorded in Abbey Road Studios in summer 2024, River of Music shares how the Kanneh-Masons’ love of music has been passed on through generations. From their Welsh grandmother following love across the sea to Sierra Leone, to their Antiguan grandad passing on his own dashed hopes of a musical career, this album celebrates the musical threads of the Kanneh-Mason family.

Guitarist Steve Howe played an integral role in shaping the sound of Yes and Asia, two of the world’s most beloved and successful progressive rock bands. The gifted guitarist has also enjoyed a long and prolific career as a solo artist with more than a dozen studio albums to his credit. Howe has handpicked 33 tracks from his vast and varied discography for Anthology, a new retrospective drawing primarily from the studio albums he recorded between 1975 and 2011. Throughout his career as a solo artist, Howe has demonstrated time and again his vast stylistic range, much like one of his guitar inspirations, Chet Atkins. Anthology maps his musical journey across 36 years, 16 albums, and countless genres.

TWO PRE- DEBUT ALBUM RADIO SESSIONS FROM A YOUNG JOHN PRINE Among the finest American singer-songwriters of all, John Prine is often tagged the best kept secret in rock. But despite his status remaining fairly low-key among the general public, even 50 years after his recording debut, he can boast an army of famous fans ranging from Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen to Billy Bragg and R.E.M. In 1970, Prine was the upcoming bright, young hope in and around the Chicago folk clubs, most notably the 5th Peg, where he would often perform at open mic nights. In August 1970, one such show at the 5th Peg was recorded for live FM broadcast, and this recording makes up the first part of this CD. The second part comes from a little later the same year, when legendary Chicago DJ and presenter Studs Terkel invited the young performer onto his radio show at 98.7 WFM Chicago, to play a further set of songs on live radio. These two sessions remain the earliest known recordings of John Prine and remain in near perfect quality for all to enjoy, half a century after they were recorded.

So much more than just the archetypal jam band, the Grateful Dead grew to become an artistic and cultural institution that existed entirely on their own terms. While the band initially came out of a psychedelic revolution in the Bay Area's musically and chemically exploratory mid-'60s, they quickly evolved from their acid rock beginnings, incorporating elements of Americana and Bakersfield country into gently majestic albums like 1970's American Beauty. Their live shows were completely separate from their studio output, based on freeform improvisation borrowed from jazz and made up of extended performances and set list variations that ensured no two shows were exactly like. Though the band recorded only 13 studio albums between 1967 and 1989, an entire counterculture formed around their endless touring, and they even broke through to the mainstream with an unlikely radio hit in the MTV era. The Grateful Dead effectively ended with bandleader Jerry Garcia's death in 1995, but their presence never faded. Spin-off projects continued decades later, and regularly released archival recordings of the group's more than 2,000 concerts help new generations of Deadheads discover the band's sound, spectacle, and community perennially.

Claudio Scimone, at the head of his ensemble I Solisti Veneti, was one of Vivaldi's greatest servants on record, recording a considerable number of pieces and clearing entire sections of his repertoire, which had been superficially explored. This collection brings together the famous Four Seasons with lesser-known concertos (for violin, horns, bassoon, etc.), some of which are being made available digitally for the first time.

Vanessa Wagner Born in Rennes, France, Vanessa Wagner began playing the piano at the age of seven. A prodigious talent, she earned First Prize at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at just 17. In 1999, she was named “Instrumental Solo Revelation” at the Victoires de la Musique Classique, marking the beginning of an international career distinguished by artistic curiosity.Since then, Wagner has performed on prestigious stages worldwide. Her rich discography showcases both the diversity of her repertoire and the uniqueness of her musical vision.

This world premiere performance by the Los Angeles Philharmonic was commissioned by the LA Phil with generous support from the MaddocksBrown Fund for New Music as part of its centennial celebrations. Recorded live in May 2019 at Walt Disney Concert Hall and conducted by LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen with solo vocalist Nora Fischer.Two artistic discoveries influenced Andriessen as he wrote The only one. The first was a collection of poems by the Flemish poet Delphine Lecompte from The animals in me. His second discovery was the work of Nora Fischer, an Amsterdam–based singer known for developing dynamic creative projects that fuse classical and pop music.

The title “Overture Suites” stems from the stage tradition of the court of Louis XIV in which the overture for an opera, ballet, or play was followed by a set of dances. The term “overture” was applied to the whole grouping, though in actuality these are orchestral suites as we understand the term from J.S. Bach. Some of Telemann’s overture suites are delightful works that must have provided wonderful preparatory entertainment for the evening’s main event. The G major suite, whose title “La Putain” translates as “The Whore”, quotes from the song “It’s been so long since I’ve come to you”. Despite the bawdy name, the suite is filled with jaunty, lively melodies and inventive, characterful dances.

This release, part of harmonia mundi's series celebrating the Beethoven year, pairs the composer's iconic and much-loved Symphony No.5 with the far less well-known Symphony In 17 Parts by Francois-Joseph Gossec. The dramatic power and intensity of Beethoven stands in sharp contrast to to the cheerful and gallant music of Gossec. Les Siècles, led by François-Xavier Roth, apply their usual virtuosity and keen insight to both works in performances that are sure to delight.

British singer, songwriter and superstar Mimi Webb not only empowers, but empathizes with her electrifying, engaging, and enigmatic body of work, boosted by her signature skyscraper-size vocals. She turned heads with her 2021 debut, the Seven Shades of Heartbreak EP which included “Good Without” and “Dumb Love” (both went Top 15 on the UK Singles Chart).
