Light Flux was released as companion to the long-awaited autobiography by Edgar Froese. It comes in two versions: as a full length album with six tracks and as a EP featuring only three of the six tracks.

The two longest tracks on the album, Green Summer Clouds and Reaching Ravenna were composed and performed by Edgar Froese and Thorsten Quaeschning in 2007 and 2011, respectively. Though the name Green Summer Clouds is compiled from three of the four track titles of the album Green Desert (1973/1986) by some unknown reason, the music bears no resemblance to those tracks.

Meteor and Nemesis are solo tracks by Edgar Froese, edited for release by Ulrich Schnauss. Meteor apparently stems from the recording sessions of Pinnacles (1983) and was later used as background music for the audio novel Der Meteor (1997), hence its name on this release. Nemesis is an unreleased studio composition from 1981 that shares its melody with one of the three main themes from the Digital Times Suite (of which no studio version exists) but is otherwise unique.

The two remaing tracks are studio reworkings of material from Logos Live (1982) and Tyger (1987), recorded between 2008 and 2014 with the then current line-up of Edgar Froese, Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane and Ulrich Schnauss.
