Heitor Villa-Lobos – Complete String Quartets (6 CD)
2004 | label: Brilliant Classics | Classical | APE+cue+logs | covers+booklet | 1,81 GB

My favourite composers for the string quartet setting are Haydn, Beethoven, Bartok and Shostakovich (I apologize for not mentioning dozens of others, but it’s those I know best). Personally, I must add Villa-Lobos to this illustrious foursome to make it a full hand….and although the Brazilian’s quartets may not be rated as high as Bartok’s – well, whose would - they’re definitely to be considered an enrichment of the quartet repertoire.

Six discs here, seventeen quartets, a variety of sounds; another proof of Heitor’s versatility. What setting or instrument did the man NOT compose for – perhaps only people like Haydn and Mozart had a wider orientation.

Performers:
Cuarteto Latinoamericano =
Saul Bitran - violin
Aron Bitran - violin
Alvaro Bitran – cello
Javier Montiel - violin
