ABBEY ROAD'S world-renowned engineers have been cutting grooves into discs since the studios first opened in 1931. This record was pressed using a precision technique known as half-speed mastering, in which the source master and cutting lathe run at half speed on a specially adapted Neumann VMS-80. The result is a cut with excellent high frequency response and solid stereo images. In short, half-speed mastering produces a superlative master of the highest quality.

First 2,000 pressings are numbered on the back of the jacket and pressed at Quality Record Pressings.
Unnumbered copies may be pressed at either Quality Record Pressings or RTI, which is only identified by the sticker on the outer plastic bag. Atlantic Records began releasing 12-inch LPs of hit singles by their established rhythm & blues artists in 1956. An early release in this "8000 'popular' series" was Ray Charles' 1957 album of the same name. It was not only the pianist and singer's first studio album, but also a compilation of his hit singles up to his debut. The LP was re-released in 1962 as "Hallelujah I Love Her So".

This package collects the original album plus three LP sides of bonus material. The bonus tracks appeared on companion single and EP releases at the time, tracks pulled from 2011 radio live-in-studio recordings, plus a couple of unreleased tracks from early in the sessions. Everything is packaged in a beautiful box. The original LP release is long out of print. Wilco’s legendary 2011 album, now on three LPs, expanded to include all related single, EP and bonus tracks plus a selection from The Loft's archive of live in-studio performances and previously unreleased alternate mixes and demos. Tom (Thomas) Haines is a British composer and sound designer with a background in the outer reaches of classical and electro-acoustic music.

Elio Amberg is currently researching mainly rhythmic constructs, extended saxophone playing techniques, the structuring of atonal melodies and the area between electronic and acoustic music.

Clay Wulbrecht is a composer, musician, and arranger. He is a State College, PA based session pianist/musician with a degree in Jazz Studies from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

He graduated as an instrumentalist and ensemble practice teacher in 2008.

Drawn from years of early-morning flea market hunts and second-hand record store hauls, Archipelago unearths a hidden layer of French music that maps an alternate France including music from Francis Bebey, Cécilia Angeles, Carla Music Orchestra and a Dub remix from Dennis Bovell.
