The album Das Herz eines Boxers (The Heart of a Boxer) was released on 21 October 1982 and reached number 11 in the charts, remaining there for a total of 17 weeks. For the production of his seventh studio album, Westernhagen travelled to London for the first time with producer Lothar Meid and recorded an album at London's Townhouse Studio that took a more diverse and experimental sound direction.

"Marius and I have known each other for ages. We first met in 1980, when we went to the cinema together. He was sitting on top of the screen in a Volvo articulated lorry and I was sitting below, in the front row of the Grindel cinema. At the time, I also weighed about 52 kilos, wore size 28 jeans and, like him, had this nondescript, fringed hairstyle. I could totally identify with the dynamic ferret on the screen – not only because we actually looked alike, but because this little thin man named Theo, whom he embodied so magnificently, who was mercilessly inferior to ‘the rest of the world’ but walked around with his chest puffed out, had something in common with me. Because anyone who comes across as such a loudmouth is, in reality, only too familiar with the old monkey called fear."

The album ‘Stinker’ was released on 2 April 1981 and entered the charts at number 5, where it remained for two weeks. It spent a total of 51 weeks in the charts and sold over 500,000 copies, earning Westernhagen a platinum award. The album is once again produced by Lothar Meid. As the third part of the trilogy after ‘Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz’ and ‘Sekt oder Selters,’ all three albums simultaneously enter the top 10 of the German sales charts. The second tour within a year takes place in front of an even larger audience. Westernhagen is now the biggest new rock star in Germany.

The McCrarys would later gain wider recognition with their hit “You” featuring Stevie on harmonica and with “Any Old Sunday” which was memorably covered by Chaka Khan.

The Life of a Showgirl is the upcoming twelfth studio album by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. It is scheduled for release on October 3, 2025, through Republic Records. She described it as a vibrant and lively project, departing from the bleak lyricism of its predecessor, The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Swift wrote and produced The Life of a Showgirl with the producers Max Martin and Shellback in Sweden, working with the duo for the first time since Reputation (2017).
