Helium Vola is a German "Electro-Medieval" band founded in 2001 by instrumenentalist and composer Ernst Horn, who was also one of the founding members of Qntal. In the contract with Chrom Records Horn insisted on Helium Vola not being seen as a successor of Qntal nor being marketed as such. The band's name is Latin meaning "Fly, Helium" - a reference to the noble gas Helium which is used to fill balloons. The project's main vocalist is Sabine Lutzenberger, though the project has utilised a number of guest singers and musicians. Liod is the project's second album.

The late Lowell Fulson had passed his peak when he recorded this album in London in 1984. After all, his classic sides had come in the '50s and '60s. "Wailing With Lou" is a hard bop album by saxophonist Lou Donaldson. It features performances by Donaldson's Quintet with Donald Byrd, Herman Foster, Peck Morrison, and Art Taylor.

"Sweet Lou" was recorded by saxophonist Lou Donaldson in 1974. Produced by Horace Ott and George Butler and recorded at Generation Sound Studios in NYC, the album features compositions by Donaldson as well as a few tunes by other jazz musicians.
