On his second release for Evil Penguin, Belgian piano prodigy Julien Libeer teams up with the new ensemble Les Métamorphoses to contrast authentic and neo guises of 18th century music. The true classicists are featured on this disc with unusually restrained work: Haydn’s Passion Symphony no. 49 is broodingly solemn, Mozart’s last piano concerto no. 27 deceptively intimate.

‘And Also The Trees’ compelling new album, ‘Mother-of-Pearl Moon’, was born from a series of extraordinary electric guitar improvisations created by guitarist Justin Jones in the pre- and postdawn hours during a month of solitude in 2020. Each piece then developed in its own way - the guitar, often left in its raw, unaltered form, is accompanied by the voice of his brother Simon, bringing imagery and narrative, Colin Ozanne’s clarinet and piano adding poise, colour and harmony, Paul Hill’s percussion creating depth… on occasion an autoharp, a Moog… all leading the listener from the depths of the English countryside far out in all directions of the compass. The music is often filmic, reminiscent of various film genres from the ‘50s to the ‘70s.

A kaleidoscopic trip through the anxieties and possibilities of the present moment, the new album ranges through some of the weirdest, heaviest landscapes we’ve ever visited. Containing two epics that have been under construction as long as the band has been in existence alongside a handful of newer studio creations, it is the culmination of many years of experimentation and refinement lyrically and musically, a musical palimpsest.

As if the doubts of the man with the pen and the saxophone vanish as the notes become anchored. No doubt you will sometimes hear the colors of John Coltrane or Joe Henderson, his first inspirations.

With volumes 6 to 10 Peter Kofler continues his complete recording of Johann Sebastian Bach’s organ works that he started in 2017. Unlike earlier complete recordings that rely on historical instruments, this ambitious project emerges from working with a ‘modern’ instrument. For not only was Johann Sebastian Bach the perfector of a great polyphonic era; he also acted as an innovator and a catalyst, particularly in the realm of organ music.

In March 2017 organist and harpsichordist Peter Kofler launched his ongoing Bach project: a complete recording of Johann Sebastian Bachs organ works. Unlike performers of earlier complete recordings, Kofler opted for a modern instrument for this enterprise. For not only was J. S. Bach the perfecter of a great polyphonic era, he was an innovator and stimulator as well, particularly in the field of organ music.

Ambassador Wole Oni is an accomplished record producer, synthesizer, programmer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, arranger and sound engineer from Nigeria.

SAKOBI is a new project of the Vilem Spilka Quartet. The band consists of Radek Zapadlo on saxophone, Vilem Spilka on double bass and Martin Kleibl on drums. Since they have been together for a long time in other ensembles, they are closely connected musically.

Nomad Collective is a London-based group mixing Cuban rhythms with funk, rock guitars, heavy grooves and jazz improvisation.

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme is the third studio album by American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. The album largely consists of acoustic pieces that were mostly written during Paul Simon's period in England the previous year, including some recycled numbers from his debut solo record, The Paul Simon Songbook. The album includes the Garfunkel-led piece "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her", as well as "7 O'Clock News/Silent Night", a combination of news reports of the day (the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, the death of comedian Lenny Bruce), and the Christmas carol "Silent Night". Many critics have considered it a breakthrough in recording for the duo, and one of their best efforts.

Electric Warrior is a 1971 album by Marc Bolan's band T. Rex, their sixth since their debut as Tyrannosaurus Rex in 1968, and their second under the name T. Rex. The album marked a turning point in the band's sound, dispensing with the folk-oriented music of the group's previous albums and pioneering a flamboyant, pop-friendly take on electric rock and roll known as glam rock. The album reached number 1 on the UK charts and became the best selling album of 1971. Electric Warrior has since received acclaim as a pivotal release of the glam rock movement.
