Silence Between Songs is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Madison Beer, released on September 15, 2023, via Epic Records and Sing It Loud. It serves as the follow-up to Beer's debut studio album Life Support (2021) and has spawned five singles prior to its release: "Reckless", "Dangerous", "Showed Me (How I Fell in Love with You)", "Home to Another One", and "Spinnin".

The Philadelphia Orchestra and its Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin continue their pioneering project to revive neglected music by Black American composers. Their latest recording, set for digital release on 15 September, presents Florence Price’s Symphony No. 4 and William Dawson’s Negro Folk Symphony, a work premiered by The Philadelphia Orchestra back in 1934.

Exquisite eloquence from Australia's foremost Baroque and Classical flute virtuoso, Melissa Farrow. Well known to Australian audiences as a featured artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Australian Haydn Ensemble and Pinchgut Opera, this is her first solo album: a deep dive into the elegant musical salons of early 19th-century Vienna. Sublime melodies, joyous virtuosity, and delicate nuances of colour: Farrow plays the nine-key instrument prized by composers of the day, where each note has multiple possible fingerings, each with its own subtle shades of timbre. Capable of expressing a vast range of emotions, the instrument was, as the great German Romantic Jean Paul described it, ‘a divining rod, plumbing the depths of the soul.’

Carl Friedrich Abel also composed orchestral works for the London concert series of Bach-Abel Concerts, organized jointly with J. C. Bach, including 46 symphonies, 40 of which appeared in print during his lifetime. The six remaining works, five late symphonies and one Sinfonia Concertante, have survived in manuscript in the Royal Court Library in Berlin. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his birth, the Main Baroque Orchestra under Martin Jopp presents four of these symphonies as world premiere recordings as well as the Sinfonia Concertante on this recording.

Deutsche Grammophon is proud to release the world premiere recording of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s A Prayer to the Dynamo. This major orchestral work was inspired in general by the composer’s fascination with technology, and in particular by field recordings he made at Iceland’s Elliðaár power plant and the writings of Henry Adams.

New Model Army are a band who continue to thrive outside of any singular genre. Throughout their long and storied career, they have taken the road less travelled, shunning fame and instead, with each successive album, pushing boundaries of creativity. It is the same music-first approach that has led to this year’s “Sinfonia”. Recorded at Tempodrom, Berlin on July 15th 2022, with Sinfonia Leipzig and conducted by Cornelius During, it may seem like an obvious evolution, however, in true New Model Army style they have broken the barriers between band and orchestra, redefining that relationship and defying expectation. All songs have been arranged for orchestra by long-time friend and guest violinist Shir-Ran Yinon, who, in collaboration with the band, created something unique but staying true to New Model Army.

Multi-instrumentalist / vocalist S. Carey (a core member of Bon Iver) collaborates with the sublime trumpeter John Raymond. Shadowlands intertwines songwriting and improvisation, the best of the indie world and jazz. In addition, Shadowlands features the Australian singer Gordi (recently also featured with Bon Iver) and Aaron Parks, one of the leading improvisers of his generation.

Over the past few years, concert patrons have stopped the musician Carlos Niño after gigs to ask two simple questions: “Are you a shaman?” “I hear the medicine in your music, can I come to your next ceremony?” The queries are fair enough: Looking at Niño, a tall man with a wild beard and kind eyes, one would think he’s from some faraway time and could maybe cast spells. Once you get to know him, you find that he’s just an incredibly sweet guy with a laid-back demeanor, and that he isn’t some guru claiming to have an all-access pass to the otherworld.

When Elektra Records’ founder Jac Holzman signed Carly Simon to his label in 1970, it was the beginning of an extraordinary friendship. Their story unfolds in a new collection of songs chosen and sequenced by Holzman. He follows the arc of Simon’s meteoric rise with a mix of hits and deep cuts selected from the singer-songwriter’s first three albums.
