For two centuries, his name has stood for elegance, romance and rhythm. But what happens when this timeless beauty speaks the language of modern jazz?

Jeff Goldblum together with his long-time band, The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, returns to deliver sheer joy with his idiosyncratic take on a collection of standards that, for Jeff, are amongst the best songs ever written. Here, the actor yet again brings his on-screen charisma and eccentricities to the keys, with a groove that is totally unique. With all tracks newly arranged by The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra themselves, Jeff is, as the EP title suggests, joined by an array of talented, and unexpected, guest singers, all as thrilled to be accompanied by Jeff as he is to accompany them. Jeff and the band are joined by Kelly Clarkson, Mattiel Brown (of indie-rock duo Mattiel), Brazilian singer-songwriter Rodrigo Amarante and Freda Payne.

"Beautiful Love" is Elena Andreoli's debut album. It includes nine songs, both well-known and lesser-known (from "Blue Skies" to "Ain't She Sweet," from "On the Sunny Side of the Street" to "Whispering," from "Happy Feet" to "Frim Fram Sauce"), by composers such as Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin, Jimmy McHugh, and more: the jazz and swing of the 1920s and 1930s have been reworked with energy and freedom by the Lombard vocalist and Tomelleri, while respecting tradition.

Sometimes the stars are aligned particularly favorably, as was the case in smoothing the way to produce this album. Formally, this consists of two blocks. However, they blend seamlessly into a coherent whole. Both sessions took place just a few days apart in the same studio outside Manhattan. With both of them, a dream came true for the German exceptional vocalist Erik Leuthäuser in two respects. He met highly regarded and experienced instrumentalists of the US mainstream jazz scene in the context of paying tribute to grandiose representatives of classical American jazz vocal art: Susannah McCorkle and Irene Kral.

The fusion of jazz, baroque piano, vocals and traditional Central African and Middle Eastern rhythms might sound like an ambitious overreach, with too many influences competing for space. Yet Afro Baroque proves that what could have been a chaotic collision of styles instead shows how rhythm, melody and cultural expression can complement each other to produce an album of dynamic interplay that entertains throughout.

Alpine folklore, Alpine jazz, yodeling funk, or Ukrainian folklore? What exactly are Tamara Lukasheva and Matthias Schriefl serving up on this album? And are they completely serious about it all? Some of it sounds like it’s being played and sung with a wink. Anyone who knows Matthias Schriefl, who was born in Allgäu and has been living in the Rhineland for quite some time now, is also familiar with his sometimes offbeat humor.

Irma Neumuller & Seth Sjostrom are two Swedish jazz musicians and composers based in Berlin. Their collaboration began as early as 2020 at Skurups Folk High School, where they quickly connected through their shared love of jazz and improvisation. In this project, they come together in an intimate duo setting, interpreting jazz standards, original compositions, and selected favourites from the Swedish pop and folk music repertoire. The contrasts between Irma and Seth–both as musicians and as individuals–are explored. The result is a unique and intimate sound that sheds new light on both the compositions and themselves. Over the past few years, Irma and Seth have performed in various ensembles across Sweden and the rest of Northern Europe, and both have made a name for themselves on the Nordic jazz scene.
