The Korean concepts of han and heung are simple, yet profoundly deep. Emotional counterparts to one another, they coexist to encapsulate the complexity of the human experience. Han represents sorrow, grief, individual pain and collective trauma, while heung signifies joy, vitality, and radiance. On THE HAN(한/恨) AND HEUNG(흥/興) ODYSSEY: GLOBAL SOUNDS OF RESILIENCE & JOY, clarinetist Cecilia Kang embarks on a sonic ritual to explore these concepts and their deeply-rooted place within humanity.

In honor of what would have been Ray Charles’ 90th birthday year, Tangerine Records is releasing the limited edition box set, True Genius, on September 10th. The record label, which the late legend founded in 1962, has remastered 90 of Charles’ most important works for the six-CD box set.

Genres like jazz, classical, or electronic music serve merely as starting points – instruments like piano, trumpet, vibraphone, and drums as tools for melodic sculptures and rhythmic sketches that evolve into true trance textures. The three are searching for a "sound that is deeply rooted in tradition while simultaneously looking ahead." In short: a sound that is both familiar and unique – "Singülar."
