The Pop Group’s seminal 1979 album Y has been given a new dub mix by British reggae legend Dennis “Blackbeard” Bovell, who has produced for a wide variety of artists including Fela Kuti, Bananarama and Linton Kwesi Johnson. This new version of the album features reimagined arrangements of the original album’s tracks with mind-bending space echoes and a plethora of other studio effects. Y is ranked by The Wire as one of the 100 Most Important Records Ever Made and by Pitchfork as one of the Best Albums of the ‘70s.

o Software / Treatment /Tagging
This is what I do in general. Not every step is done for all my rips ñ sometimes an anomaly is undetectable, or all my attempts fail … then it is not processed - otherwise as mentioned below:
o Clickrepair
ï Light de-Clicking, significant clicks/anomalies manually removing
ï De-Noising: no
ï @ Level: 30 (YES!) I decide if it will be repaired or not! 100% handmade! Nothing is processed automatically;
ï heavy clicks / anomalies, mark the region, copy in a new (iZotope RX Advanced) temp-file.
Open in Clickrepair (every option off) and let it run until the click/part and repair/removing manually
(Clickrepair is able to calculate the possible groove running, try out how it most fits Ö)
o iZotope RX Advanced
ï manual click/anomalies removal ñ very carefully (if necessary) / various settings (mine)
Clicks - Algorithm: Single-band, Click type: Click, Sensitivity: 1.2, Click widening [ms]: 0.0

Decrackle (only gap, Lead-in, Lead-out)* - ï Quality: High, Amplitude skew: 9.0

Clicks (only gap, Lead-in, Lead-out)* - ï Algorithm: Single-band, Click type:
Click, Sensitivity: 9, Click widening [ms]: 0.0

ï Algorithm: M-Band (random clicks), Click type:

Thumps - ï Algorithm: M-Band (random clicks), Click type:
Thump, Sensitivity: 4, Frequency skew: -5.0, Click widening [ms]: 0.0

Denoise - (only gap, Lead-in, Lead-out)* ï "Reduce only tonal noise or hum" with my own settings:
Threshold: 0,0 - Reduction: (Noisy: 0,0 - Tonal 12,0)
Quality: D (Best) - Artifact control: 7,0
Select the area with the "Time-frequency selection tool [R]) and set the frequency range from 0 - 250 Hz (Start: 0 End: 250)
Click "Learn", ignore the message "Noise profile is not …" and click "Process"
(my personal experience (I've spent a couple of hours on it):
some pops and thumbs are eliminated and the best … it sounds a bit better, deeper, less rumble, more stable;
please note that these are my experiences, others may have different experiences.)

Hum - (only gap, Lead-in, Lead-out)* ï Base frequency 50 Hz(Germany), Filter Q: 97,7, 1 harmonics, Harmonic gains [dB]: -45.0, Filter DC-offset: yes
ï Select the area with the "Time-frequency selection tool [R]) and set the frequency range from 0 - 15 Hz (Start: 0 End: 15) and deleted

Gain (YES) - Normalize - Target peak level: -0.53 dBFS (the best solution in my opinion)
