Oslo Kammerakademi returns with a compelling new recording, Symphonies for Harmoniemusik – Mozart · Haydn · Beethoven, offering a fresh perspective on three iconic symphonic works through the lens of historical wind ensemble arrangements. This album explores the rich tradition of Harmoniemusik, where orchestral masterpieces were transcribed for wind octet, contrabass, and timpani, making them accessible to smaller ensembles and intimate settings.

The recording features Mozart’s Symphony No. 31 “Paris”, Haydn’s Symphony No. 92 “Oxford”, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major, each reimagined with clarity, nuance, and the vibrant character that defines Oslo Kammerakademi’s artistry. Under the direction of David Friedemann Strunck, the ensemble brings precision and expressive depth to these transcriptions, illuminating the elegance and energy of the originals while celebrating the unique textures of wind instruments.

This release continues the ensemble’s exploration of classical repertoire through historically informed performance, bridging past and present with musical insight and vitality.

Founded in 2009, Oslo Kammerakademi is Norway’s leading wind ensemble, known for its innovative programming and historically informed interpretations. The group performs on modern instruments while drawing inspiration from 18th- and 19th-century performance practice. Under the artistic leadership of David Friedemann Strunck, the ensemble has earned international acclaim for its recordings and live performances, often spotlighting rare transcriptions and forgotten gems alongside core repertoire. Oslo Kammerakademi is committed to expanding the wind ensemble tradition through collaboration, education, and artistic excellence.
