City Of The Sun is an American acoustic post-rock trio from New York City. Their sound is influenced by several genres including post-rock, gypsy jazz, flamenco, and indie rock. In 2015, the band was signed to Chesky Records and released their full-length debut, which debuted at #12 on the Billboard Jazz charts.

David Chesky’s series of 18 modern virtuoso solo piano rags are inspired by life in the bustling and intense metropolis of New York City, a place he has called home since 1974. The work seems to owe as much to Henry Cowell and Charles Ives’ use of dissonance, Elliott Carter’s atonalism, Conlon Nancarrow’s experimental piano rolls, Leonard Bernstein’s syncopation, and Cecil Taylor’s whirlwind free jazz as they do to Joplin’s ragtime classics.

With "Dazzling Blue", vocalist Cole and producers David Chesky and Nicholas Prout sifted through some of Simon’s lesser known compositions. The National Endowment of the Arts’ Jazz Master, Dave Liebman, was born in New York City on September 4th, 1946 during a period of change in jazz, one that has yet to be properly documented by even its most noted musicians, writers, filmmakers, and serious academics. It was a time when Afro-Cuban based dance music and its driving polyrhythms were taking the city, and eventually the country, by storm. At its epicenter was the Machito Afro-Cubans, a big band led by the amazing multi-instrumentalist (clarinet, alto sax, lead trumpet) Mario Bauzá and his brother-in- law Frank Grillo (Machito). Thus Afro-Cuban jazz, the first form of Latin jazz, was born and Afro-Cuban percussion would become part of mainstream jazz in America.

Bucky Pizzarelli’s playing on this new album sums up his seventy-year career. Without sacrificing his own voice, he lovingly honors his forebears and contemporaries, as well as "the kids", including his own.
