Already the title-giving pun "Brazilian Blues" breaks with hardened traditional ways of looking at what Brazilian music is and what the blues can be. Well aware of how juvenile and agile the essence of music is constantly looking for new starting points and forms of expression, Stefan Koschitzki and Fabiano Pereira bypass on their new album "Brazilian Blues Vol. II" every phrase threshing. The two musicians, arrangement artisans and composers see their project "Brazilian Blues" as a vehicle for the constant expansion of their collective musical language. It's all about what is consistently respectable: the search and finding of new attitudes and current perspectives on traditional music playing styles such as blues and bossa nova. Of course, you have to first understand the fine nuances of both ways of playing…

In the band collective Mit4spiel5, Stefan Koschitzki (saxophone, clarinet, flute) and Fabiano Pereira (guitar, vocals) extensively explored the arcs of tension between jazz, blues and the elegantly swinging metric of the Sugar Loaf with the addition of European harmonies. At the end of 2014, the two appeared for the first time with the album "Brasil Antigo" as a two-man band. The almost forgotten Brazilian song tradition Choro was revived and reinterpreted passionately and purely instrumentally. The press still cheered the record, while Koschitzki /Pereira had long since left for the next big act: "Brazilian Blues". Released in November 2019 (at GLM FM 256), the groundbreaking work distilled the essences of bebop, Bossa Nova and pop into a concise, crisp masterpiece. Faithful listeners of the duo then wondered what was to come after that. Had Koschitzki/Pereira possibly already said everything they had to say with this album?
