A classic LP with landmark cover art.
This is the last outing of the "original MkII" Edgar Winter Group with the late great Dan Hartman and guitar hero Rick Derringer (who at the time was pretty busy-he also released "Spring Fever" that same year-which is on the Quad "to-do" list).
It is a GREAT album, going from Rock to Funk to Pop to Blues, to …prog???.
Well, whatever they did , it was always awesome , and this album is no exception.
From the opener "Cool Dance" (which is pretty cool by the way) to the closer "Chainsaw" (a very decent attempt to do another "Frankenstein"), it is a highly enjoyable ride.

Oh, the 80's, how I miss 'em!!!
Here is one of the masterpieces of Pop from the 1980's, orchestrated by none other than Mr. Leo himself, Roland Orzabal, and a crew of top rate musicians, among them the incredible Oletta Adams.
Reportedly costing about 1 million GBP to make at the time, it is one of the few albums that actually sounds like a million bucks!!!!
Also featuring the dubious honor of having up to five 24 track machines synched together to get 100+ separate tracks (let's not even talk about the patch bay!!!), the production here is beyond stellar.
Mixed by David Bascombe in "SuperBascombevision" (or something like that) , there are also mixes by Bob Clearmountain("Woman In chains") that define "State of the Art Recording".
When I got his LP , it was in NM visually, but it was the clickiest thing ever. Fortunately, ClickRepair came to the rescue.
The "sheen" that permeates this LP is nowhere to be found on any CD version, so , if you TRULY want to listen to this album for the FIRST TIME EVER, as it was supposed to have sounded originally, download and listen to this sonic marvel!

This LP needs no introduction. If you're looking into this, you already know the deal.
Why another rip? I do not intend to demean the other member's rip of the same LP at the same resolution.
Here is the difference : this LP was recorded using a LINEAR TRACKING TURNTABLE as opposed to a pivot arm one.
This reduces inner groove distortion considerably.
I also use a very decent good elliptical stylus, the Ortofon OM20.
I hope you enjoy the difference.

(From wiki)
"Azteca was a Latin jazz-rock-fusion group formed in 1972, started by Coke Escovedo and his brother Pete Escovedo, who had just finished stints with Latin rock pioneering band Santana. Azteca was the first large-scale attempt to combine multiple musical elements in the context of a Latin orchestra setting, and featured horns, woodwinds, multiple keyboards, three vocalists, guitars, drums, and multiple Latin percussionists.
Onstage, the band consisted of between 15-25 members, and toured with acts including Stevie Wonder. Other notable Azteca alumni included drummer Lenny White, bassist Paul Jackson, vocalist Wendy Haas, trumpeter Tom Harrell, guitarist Neal Schon, vocalist Errol Knowles and percussionist Victor Pantoja. The group was also a musical starting point for Latin percussionist Sheila E. (the daughter of Pete Escovedo), who appeared with the band as a teenager. Two albums were released on Columbia Records, the self titled Azteca (1972) and Pyramid of the Moon (1973), before the band split up.
On September 15 2007, a number of the surviving members of Azteca performed together for the first time in more than 30 years in Hollywood, California. The concert was recorded for an eventual DVD release."

This one is a very strange Quad mix. It was the only Santana Quad mix not to be released on Quad 8track.
Some claim it's a fake Quad mix, but I have pinpointed a few moments that there are guitars in the rears and keyboards in the front sharing the same frequencies, so the veredict is open.
As it is , I don't think they would have even bothered with a fake quad mix.
It features a song that I always liked as a kid and somehow I had NEVER heard on the radio or anywhere else until I bought this LP 2 years ago! "See the Light".
Even so, the sonics are spectacular and the wash of reverb in "Dance Sister Dance"is great!
As with all Santana releases, the percussion makes this a wonderful Surround experience.Brought to you in Separate files, in BOTH:Hi Resolution DVD-Audio (ONLY-no Dolby or DTS DVD);
and for those without DVD-A players, a DTS CD 44.1/16 version.

DISCLAIMER:THIS IS A REAUTHORING OF A SUPPOSED QUAD REEL TRANSFER DONE BY SOMEONE ELSE; RQR
My only contribution to this release is the lyrics slideshow; I always liked Ian Anderson's lyrics and this LP is no exception, so I decided to look 'em up and do a reauthoring. I also made some covers and decided to turn "positive" the cover just for kicks, if you don't like it , you can just turn it back to how it originally was.
The main reason is that I could not burn this DVD Audio properly, so I ripped the 96/24 tracks and added the images.
One thing; although it sounds fine, the frequency range of this transfer is quite limited- there is NOTHING above 16kHz, pitch black. To me , the person who did the transfer went crazy with the Noise Reduction and obliterated any HF info, either that or this is a pretty good CD-4 LP transfer. As it is, I could have done a 48/24 DVD-A, but, alas…
One more thing, the Audio remains untouched.
Enjoy it!,
kn'k

Caravanserai marked a new beginning in Santana' musical direction. Carlos played his wailing solos quite a bit less and let the ensemble take over-and what an ensemble.
This is one of Prog-Latin Rock's first masterpieces. Briefly reunited by Gregg Rollie, the original singer, and joined by an astounding young bass player, Doug Rauch (RIP), this is a REAL journey into the beauty of the desert.
THis is the same 96/24 rip that was used in the DTS-CD, but a bit "spiffed up": some light izotoping (H Exc, a bit of puncher and some dithering),
AND
with a great slideshow created by yours truly , in which you'll see the lyrics and some cool backgrounds.
Enjoy!

Synergy's (Mr. Larry Fast) finest release, in my humble opinion.
The music in here is Grandiose, but also eerie. The fact that the original gatefold had a photo of the composer in front of one of the Twin Towers with a "Cord" connecting him to it is a bit disturbing. I am positive he was tapping into the muse of the Universe in here-maybe he saw how the future was , since the music fits the bleak world we only thought would exist in only our weirdest dark fantasies.
This LP will move you and you will not be the same person after hearing it.
Ripped at 96/24 resolution from a brand new sealed clear vinyl LP 1st Pressing : gatefold cover and states"Distributed by Arista Records", this LP will challenge your Stereo System and even better, it decodes almost perfectly on Surround with Dolby Pro Logic Music setting (Dimension=+1 /Panorama=ON).

Most of these EMI recordings from the 1970's were released ONLY as SQ encoded LPs and CD, since their compatibility made them totally enjoyable in Stereo.
The Von Karajan sessions were legendary because the Maestro himself used to assist and produce these Quadraphonic mixdowns-he was VERY MUCH into Multichannel.

Between Nothingness and Eternity is the first live album and last with the original line-up, released in 1973. It was recorded live at the Schaefer Music Festival, held in Central Park, New York on Aug 17 and 18, 1973. It features the material from the then unreleased album which surfaced in 1999, as "The Lost Trident Sessions".
For being a NYC audience they behaved quite well, not being very noisy or rowdy.
The Music here is Mahavishnu at its best.

This is the best sounding transfer from a Quadraphonic tape (Q8) that I have EVER HEARD!
This AudioSpectrum is really something…. AND , it can stand shoulder to shoulder with ANY commercial release…especially since labels are forgetting Hi Resolution Multichannel Audio!

Genre: Jazz/Avant-Garde | Label:Columbia CQ-32212 | Source: SQ LP | RS.com

Now , this is a welcome surprise. Before listening to this LP, I had no idea Mr. Hancock was creating this kind of music back then. This is Avant-Garde with some jazz thrown in-VERY left field when compared to his 80's stuff. This LP was a very bad pressing so it took many weeks of de-clicking restoration, done by hand of course (SQ LP rear channel info waveforms are helical and therefore , the algorithms of the declicking programs are not programmed for these kind of signals), so please enjoy.
Also, as in all of my conversions , Noise reduction was NOT used.

Their best Quad mix from the 70s, featuring circling galloping horses, some out of tune background singing and plenty of illegal substance in your face guitar solos, which , unfortunately has taught us that those were the real Aerosmith, not the post "Permanent Vacation" group-We love ya Steven!…Enjoy!
