Robotics and intelligent systems are intricately connected, each exploring their respective capabilities and moving towards a common goal. In industry, it is common to see robotic systems aided by machine learning and vice versa in applications including robot navigation, grasping, human–robot interaction/collaboration, safety and team management, among others. Achievements targeting the industrial domain can be directly applied in robotic systems operating in other domains. While significant advances have been made in the last few years, industrial robotics and intelligent systems face several scientific and technological challenges related to their integration with other systems, interaction with humans, safety, flexibility, reconfigurability and autonomy. These challenges are especially relevant for robots operating in unstructured industrial environments and sharing a workspace with human coworkers and other robots.

Though Steely Dan recorded prolifically for much of the '70s, they toured for only a brief spell early in that decade, deciding they much preferred the studio to the road. This allowed them to craft a wry, nuanced and hyper-literate series of albums - from 1972 to 1980 - that are highly regarded by connoisseurs of pop hooks, jazz harmony and desiccating wit. Beneath the highly polished surface of Steely Dan's music, astute listeners could hear a visceral love of and identification with the very soul of jazz. Donald Fagen and Walter Becker referenced Duke Ellington, Stan Getz and Horace Silver at least as much as any rock-oriented source material. Even so, there was a certain accessible quality to songs like "Reelin' in the Years," "Do It Again" and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" that allowed Steely Dan to connect with rock fans.

Transportation electrification, particularly using electric vehicles (EV), has been widely suggested to mitigate global warming and energy security issues due to their economic and environmental benefits. Environmentalists are advertising EV use, and governments are implementing financial incentives to expedite the transition from conventional vehicles to electric ones to achieve energy security and climate change mitigation goals. At the same time, EVs are becoming more affordable as their battery prices decrease.

This book offers a first glimpse into contemporary African Philosophical thought, which covers issues related to the mind-body relationships, the problem of consciousness, the ethics of artificial intelligence, the meaning of life and other topics.
