Producer and multi-instrumentalist J-Felix returns with his future blend of boogie, p-funk, disco and soul on his second album ‘Whole Again Hooligan’. Influenced by the musicianship of Roy Hargrove’s The RH Factor, James Brown and George Clinton.

The US-born, London-based trumpeter and composer Andre Canniere follows up his acclaimed 'The Darkening Blue' with a new release on Whirlwind. 'Ghost Days' reunites him with singer Brigitte Beraha and saxophonist Tori Freestone, and introduces a new, all-star UK rhythm team of Rick Simpson (piano) Tom Farmer (bass) and Andrew Bain (drums).

Robert Rental was a British pioneer of the post-punk DIY industrial electronic music scene in the United Kingdom. Originally from Port Glasgow, Scotland, he moved to the south of England with Thomas Leer in the late 1970s, and became involved with the local music scene. Robert Rental however released very little of his solo music, preferring to collaborate with Thomas Leer, as well as with Daniel Miller. The only solo recording from The 1970s is the 7" single "Paralysis" first released on the homemade Regular Records, then re-released on Company Records in 1978.

Ever since his debut back in 1997 with the Norwegian lo-fi psych-pop heroes Dipsomaniacs, Øyvind Holm has managed to stay a renowned and prolific songwriter. Some 22 years later, Holm has, on his own or as a part of various band constellations, released close to 20 albums of original material. These days Holm is probably most recognized as a member of the cosmic, high-flying Americana combo Sugarfoot. Their newest album, "In The Clearing", has received massive praise since its release last year.

You don’t have to actually share DNA to have musical chemistry, but it certainly works for identical twins Pat and Cosmo Liney. After years of perfecting blissed-out dance beats as Cosmo’s Midnight (and remixing for the likes of AlunaGeorge and Flume), the Sydney-based pair use their long-awaited debut album, What Comes Next, to experiment with bigger ideas. Casual hookups, unrequited lust and ill-advised rebounds are explored cheekily on ventures into hip-hop (“Lowkey” feat. Buddy and Jay Prince, “Where You Been” feat. Boogie), mellow, N.E.R.D-sampling trip-hop (“Montego”), and even jazz flutes (“Lovelight”).

When the band Trees Speak, coming out of nowhere, released an exclusive one-off 100-pressing white label 45, described as Can/Neu! meets Liquid Liquid, it sold out so quickly (in less than 30 minutes) that Soul Jazz Records decided to release their album almost immediately.

The 2018 remake of '70s blaxploitation classic Super Fly is about a young hustler trying to escape street life in Atlanta—so who better to helm a soundtrack to such travails than the rapper who’s had the city eating out of his palm for years? Future appears on 10 of these 13 tracks, flexing his usual wide range of dope-boy emotions. He's an unrepentant lothario on “No Shame” (featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR) and a gleeful showboat on “Show My Chain Some Love” with Young Thug. Like any good hero’s tale, the album has tender moments as well: Miguel plays a suave balladeer on “R.A.N.,” and there's a smoldering duet from Khalid and H.E.R. in which the pair hold each responsible for their own shortcomings as lovers.

Maria Monti's career in film and music covers multiple areas but hers is the kind of career that has resulted in only sporadic attention in the Anglophonic world, most famously (on a relative scale) for appearing in A Fistful of Dynamite. It makes her 1974 album, Il Bestiario, all the more remarkable, the type of mysterious, moody, and thoroughly compelling album that in its easy ignoring of genre templates seems more like something self-conscious from the 21st century than the apparently self-contained, vibrant collection it is, not least due to the quality of some of her collaborators, including Alvin Curran, who both performs and handles all the arrangements, and Steve Lacy.
