This book, full of quantitative evidence and limited-circulation archives, details manufacturing and the beginnings of industrialisation in China from 1644 to 1911. It thoroughly examines the interior organisation of public craft production and the complementary activities of the private sector.

Stories are central drivers of media today-not only do they propel plot-driven entertainment media, such as television, cinema, theatre, but also social media. Telling and having a story is widely deemed essential, both in the large and widely visible world of commerce and in the everyday social lives of individuals.

The cases investigate the intermediality of such manifold objects and phenomena as contemporary installation art, twentieth-century geography books, renaissance sculpture, media theory, and public architecture of the 1970s.

Proposals for more effective natural resource governance emphasize the importance of institutions and governance, but say less about the political conditions under which institutional change occurs. This book synthesizes findings regarding the political drivers of institutional change in extractive industry governance. The authors analyse resource governance from the late nineteenth century to the present in Bolivia, Ghana, Peru, and Zambia. They focus on the ways in which resource governance and national political settlements interact.

"New initiatives recognize that resource wealth can provide a means, when properly used, for poorer nations to decisively break with poverty by diversifying economies and funding development spending. Extractive Industries: The Management of Resources as a Driver of Sustainable Development explores the challenges and opportunities facing developing countries in using oil, gas, and mining to achieve inclusive change. While resource wealth can yield prosperity it can also, when mismanaged, cause acute social inequality, deep poverty, environmental damage, and political instability. There is a new determination to improve the benefits of extractive industries to their host countries, and to strengthen the sector's governance.

This book contributes to the understanding of smallholder agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa through addressing the dynamics of intensification and diversification within and outside agriculture, in contexts where women have much poorer access to agrarian resources than men.

This collection of essays explores the metaphysical thesis that the living world is not ontologically made up of substantial particles or things, as has often been assumed, but is rather constituted by processes. The biological domain is organized as an interdependent hierarchy of processes, which are stabilized and actively maintained at different timescales. Even entities that intuitively appear to be paradigms of things, such as organisms, are actually better understood as processes.

Femicide, the killing of women and girls because of their gender, was until recently included in the category ‘homicide’, obscuring the special features of this social and gendered phenomenon. However, the majority of murders of women are perpetrated by men whom they know from family ties and are the result of intimate partner violence or so-called 'honour' killings.

"Diese ethnographische Studie analysiert zunächst die historische Genese eines spezifischen, volkskundlichen Wissensbestandes, dem Wissen von „Tracht“ im Ötztal, um dann nach der gegenwärtigen Aktualisierung dieses Wissens im Tun „Tracht“ selbst herstellender Akteur_innen zu fragen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sich das Handeln „Tracht“ herstellender Akteur_innen in einem von Macht und Wissen strukturierten Feld situiert. Für dieses Feld der „Trachten“-Praxis und des „Tracht“-Wissens lässt sich beobachten, wie die gegenwärtigen Akteur_innen volkskundliche Wissensstrategien zitieren und wiederholen.

Through a constitutional framework of social networks and the deepening of the liability regime provided for digital intermediaries, in this book we try to understand if and how the existing legal rules, or those desirable in perspective de jure condendo, can offer valid solutions to overcome to the main problems that the enormous spread of these forms of communication poses.

Idrettspsykologi handler om nettopp disse faktorene. I denne vitenskapelige antologien presenteres for første gang mangfoldet i den idrettspsykologiske forskningen i Skandinavia.
