Techari takes in their Flamenco roots and nourish them further with Funk, Reggae, Tango, Bhangra and Hip Hop. Adding even more global spice with special guests like Faada Freddy from Daara J, Asian Dub Foundation's Prithpal Rajput, Nitin Sawhney, Cuban pianist Roberto Carcassés and respected flamenco guitarists Pepe Habichuela and Raúl Rodríguez among others.

Tomatito is always pushing the envelope and perception of the parameters of flamenco. Several of the songs reach into the jazz idiom as on the rumba "La Vacilona" that features George Benson on guitar trading licks with Tomatito to the background of hand claps. The disc is very mellow for the most part but interrupts into flights of fiery guitar work that dazzles with top-notch flamenco style cuts (both with and without vocals).

An excellent Latin Jazz double album by cuban legend Bebo Valdes. The first disc is an eight-suite big band opus entitled Suite Cubana. Among others "Cachao, Creator del Mambo," pays tribute to the influential cuban musician, while the processional pulsations on "Nocturno en Batanga" features the engaging rhythm Valdes created in the '50s. The second disc, El Solar de Bebo (Bebo's Place) showcases the pianist in a smaller octet setting. With more room to swing, Valdes's profound pianisms percolate on the Haitianized joropo beats on "Iballah," and the infectious "La Mula."

Cuban pianist Bebo Valdés and flamenco singer songwriter Diego Jimenez Salazar (aka El Cigala) have seen dizzying success as solo artists, so it comes as no surprise that their genre-spanning collaboration Lagrimas Negras is the stuff that legends are made of. A heady blend of flamenco and Afro-Cuban history, the double platinum Lagrimas Negras won a Grammy and five Amigo Awards, and also spawned a live DVD collection called Bebo and Cigala en Vivo.
