Malta 1941 and H.M.S. Saracen brings back memories of the First World War to Captain Richard Chesnaye. But as the war enters a new phase, the two are re-united.
From Library Journal
Douglas Rintoul gives a fine reading of this extraordinary sea saga; his voice is clear and easy to understand. Richard Chesnaye serves aboard the Saracen and both man and vessel serve at, and survive, Gallipoli in 1915. In the spring of 1941 these two seeming relics of the past are together again with Chesnaye in command. Both are seen as unfit for anything. However, when the convoy they are protecting en route to Malta is attacked by the Italians, both captain and ship rise to the occasion, repulsing the onslaught of the superior foe. Author Reeman was a Royal Navy veteran of World War II and his work contains many fine details of naval service. Rintoul's reading of the Saracen's unequal combat with the Italians is a delight to hear. For popular collections.
