Quartet is the thirty-fourth album by jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, his first with the V.S.O.P. Quartet without Freddie Hubbard and Wayne Shorter. It was originally issued in Japan on CBS/Sony, and later given a US release by Columbia.

Recorded live in 2011 at a series of all-star concerts in New York City to celebrate Chick Corea's 70th birthday, the almost four hours of performances on this three album box set find Corea collaborating with 10 different bands and a total of 28 musicians, including Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, John McLaughlin, Stanley Clarke and Bobby McFerrin.

Saxophonist Branford Marsalis, flutist Kent Jordan, pianist Kenny Kirkland, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts join Wynton to conquer a venerable jazz tradition – swing with strings. They return from that battlefield to share the spoils with beautiful renditions of “Stardust,” “When You Wish Upon a Star,” “Melancholia” and “I’m Confessin,” among other classics, and some surprising originals, accompanied by a string orchestra arranged and conducted by Robert Freedman.

Lush Life: The Music of Billy Strayhorn is an album by jazz saxophonist Joe Henderson. Composed of songs written by Billy Strayhorn, the album was a critical and commercial success, leading to the first of three Grammy Awards Henderson would receive while under contract with Verve Records. The album had sold nearly 90,000 copies at the time of Henderson's death in 2001 and has been re-released by Verve, Polygram, and in hybrid SACD format by Universal.

On the first of three volumes, composer and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis explores 10 standards plus two of his originals with his quartet of the period. Marsalis's tone is quite beautiful on the well-balanced set; even the ballads have their unpredictable moments. Among the more memorable performances are his treatments of "Caravan", "April in Paris", "New Orleans", "Memories of You" and two versions of "Cherokee".

Given the significance of Afro-Latin rhythms in jazz’s development, there’s inherent value in a premier repertory ensemble like the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra collaborating with legendary Panamanian singer Rubén Blades. After the full orchestra’s sheer sonic force, Blades’ “Patria” is an album highlight, with a scaled-down ensemble of percussionists, bass, and trumpeter Wynton Marsalis backing the singer in stark magnificence.[

It’s been said that basketball is like jazz—but Rock Chalk Suite takes the comparison to another level entirely. Written and recorded by the musicians of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, each of the suite’s high-flying 15 movements takes inspiration from a different University of Kansas hoops legend. As Marsalis says, both basketball and jazz “reward improvisation and split-second decision making against the pressure of time,” and the JLCO’s masterful composers have turned the Jayhawks’ rich basketball history into a stylish slam dunk of an album.

"Presidential Suite: Eight Variations on Freedom" is the two time Grammy Award-winning album from composer Ted Nash and his Big Band. Featuring recordings of great speeches from leaders such as Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela, and John F. Kennedy, as read by contemporary figures such as Glenn Close and Douglas Brinkley, each of the movements in Nash's composition respond to the themes and musical features of each speech, producing a creative and inspiring reflection on the idea of freedom.

The blues is one of America’s greatest cultural inventions—and now, it provides the backbone for one of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Wynton Marsalis’s most innovative and colossal works. In the hands of the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of celebrated conductor Cristian Măcelaru, Blues Symphony (Marsalis’s second symphony) takes the 12-bar blues and explodes it into a lyrical, kaleidoscopic history of American music.

Blue Engine Records, Jazz at Lincoln Center's in-house recording label, will release a present-day recording of Duke Ellington's groundbreaking masterpiece Black, Brown and Beige by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Captured during a live, Rose Theater performance in 2018, Black, Brown and Beige is Wynton Marsalis's first recording of the work and Blue Engine's first release dedicated entirely to Ellington. Black, Brown and Beige will be available exclusively on all digital platforms on March 6, 2020.
