This four-disc box set was released commemorating the 25th anniversary of the original Woodstock festival that took place in August 1969, and combined both of the Woodstock albums released in 1970 and 1971 with previously unreleased material. It's a well-known part of the festival's history that many of the participants played self-confessed lackluster sets. However, considering the surrounding circumstances in which this music was conceived – not enough food or water, an abundance of drugs, and thunderstorms – these artists manage to rise above it more often than not. What is most interesting about this box set are the unreleased tracks by the Band, Tim Hardin, Johnny Winter, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Ritchie Havens. A whittled down single-disc sampler featuring many of the aforementioned unreleased tracks are also available on Woodstock Diary containing Mountain's "Southbound Train," Sly and the Family Stone's "Love City," and CS&N's "Blackbird" which aren't included on the box set.

This collection is marred by abbreviated versions of "Get Ready," "I Know I'm Losing You," and others. For fans who didn't purchase individual albums, though, this is a good overall view of their work. The tender "Keepin' Me Out of the Storm" shows a different side of the rockers; it's melodic and would fit well on quiet storm formats. Rare Earth excelled at remaking tunes and putting their own stamp on them, as they do on "Chained," made famous by Marvin Gaye. Lead singer Peter Hoorelbeke had a powerful voice that didn't take a backseat to anybody's. Imagine if they had cut "War," and why didn't they?

Digitally remastered and updated edition of this 1983 release from the Hard Rock pioneers. The original Headstone album, released when the band initially split, featured studio tracks from UFO and side projects plus five previously unreleased live cuts. This updated edition takes only those five live recordings from the original album and adds six more scorching performances from that same 'farewell' show, making Headstone a purely live experience. UFO are one of the UK's most prolific and influential rock bands - their musical influence can be seen across a host of modern Metal groups and during the course of nearly four decades they have built up an extremely loyal and dedicated fan base. 11 tracks. We all get excited anytime a new film by Quentin Tarantino comes out, and with every new film, he keeps topping himself with a more epic soundtrack. Well he's did it again! and with a very unique selection of music. If you're lucky enough to have the complete soundtrack to Inglourious Basterds (like me) than you will especially love this killer soundtrack. There is a few problems I have with the soundtrack they're selling here (not the music used in the movie) but I will share that with you on the last part of my review….

Westfield, MA-based metalcore kings Killswitch Engage's fifth full-length album (and second eponymous release) was co-produced by Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Mastodon), resulting in the group's most commercially viable collection of progressive/thrash/emo-metal to date. Where 2006's As Daylight Dies hinted at an accelerated focus on the more melodic aspects of extreme metal, Killswitch Engage cements the notion. After a typically brutal opener that epitomizes the band's penchant for scorching thrash-heavy verses and sweeping, melodious choruses, the quintet spits out the radio-ready "Starting Over." Flanked by dual guitar leads that echo classic Iron Maiden and shot through with a truly great vocal take from lead singer Howard Jones (who sounds remarkably like a classically trained Trent Reznor throughout the album), it's one of the album's finest, though ultimately divisive moments. It sets a significantly different template for the remainder of the record, trading tight machine-gun riffs ("Save Me," "A Light in a Darkened World") for angst-fueled midtempo dirges ("Lost," "This Is Goodbye") that might disappoint fans who feel that the punk-infused slow-burn post-hardcore albums like Alive or Just Breathing and End of Heartache are the barometers for which all future endeavors must be compared.

Like a heat lightening, scorching across the hot Louisania night! I had never heard much Jerry Lee Lewis when I first decided to pick up this box set. Truth be told, the early years of rock'n'roll had not interested me much until a few months ago when my younger cousin introduced me to some of the music. Its all fair and square, though, I got him hooked in classic country a few years back.
Anyway, this box set rocks; its an amazing collection of the early work of Jerry Lee Lewis who was one of the early greats of the genre. When you listen to this music you can not help but feel that all of the cool, rebeliousness, and power which are oozing from the speakers is rubbing off on you just a little bit.
Buy this box set and then, when your done, pick up the Johnny Cash Sun Records set as well, which is another amazing collection.
