"Modern Primitive" is the new album by Septicflesh who present a stunning combination of symphonic and cinematic music with aggressive yet catchy Death Metal. Picking up on the group’s sonic evolution in the past decades, "Modern Primitive" proves to be more emotional, epic and heavy than ever.
Once again Jens Bogren is responsible for the bombastic mix and sound whereas Seth Siro Anton - who is also in charge for the visual aesthetics of the band and worked for artists like Nile, Paradise Lost or Moonspell - has crafted a really intense cover and over-the-top artwork for this release. The new songs impress with many layers, gloomy and empowering atmosphere while being heavy and memorable. Besides the continuous collaboration with the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague, the band used a full adult choir, a full children choir and a variety of ethnic instruments.

A Fallen Temple', the fourth full-length in the long-running career of Greek metal luminaries Septicflesh, occupied a unique space in the band's history upon its original release in '98. The album featured re-recordings from their savage debut LP 'Temple of the Lost Race' interspersed amongst some of the band's most avant-garde work to date. The heightened atmospherics, synthesized orchestration, and angelic soprano vocals affirmed the bold and adventurous creative direction the band had begun to follow, and was the perfect bridge to what was coming with 1999's 'Revolution DNA'.
Now remastered and repackaged by front-man Seth Siro Antoniou and includes four bonus tracks.

"The Great Mass" is the 2011 symphonic masterpiece that constitutes a quantum leap in the art of amalgamating orchestral music with Heavy Metal. The songs are the audible evidence of guitarist Christos Antoniou finishing his studies of classical composition with academic honours and distinction. The Greeks take the next logical step in following the course they highly successfully set on their celebrated comeback-album "Communion" (2008). "The Great Mass" shows this band at the peak of their evolution over seven full-length releases since Septicflesh's founding in 1990, in which the band combines massive deadly guitars at the edge of blackness with haunting gothic melodies and cinematic symphonic arrangements…

The 21st century Septic Flesh, which takes its sweet time plotting and refining its Gothic death metal legacy into blazing, unforgettable hymns of eloquent brutality and extravagance, has continued to scale in quality which each consecutive release. Sumerian Daemons went beyond a just recompense for the seasoned Greeks' sole stumbling block (Revolution DNA), and through Communion, they've honed and polished their modus operandi to new, streamlined heights with even better balanced and catchier songwriting than nearly any of their back catalog, and the one exception, Ophidian Wheel, simply can't match the stunning production values here; rich and fulfilling, dark and exotic, an impeccable median between modernism and antiquity.
