Recouping after a car crash and faced with the loss of Rod Stewart and Ron Wood, Jeff Beck redefined what the Jeff Beck Group was about, deciding to tone down the bluesy bombast, adding keyboardist Max Middleton for a jazz edge, then having Bob Tench sing to give it an overblown early-'70s AOR edge. As expected, these two sides are in conflict and Tench can be a little overbearing, but there are moments here that bring out the best in Beck. Namely, these are the times when the group ventures into extended, funk-inflected, reflective jazzy instrumental sections. These are the moments that point the way toward the success of Blow by Blow, yet this remains an unabashed rock record of its time, and it falls prey to many of its era's excesses, particularly lack of focus. Still, there are moments that are as fine as anything Beck played here.

In the summer of 1965 – in the midst of an era of great rock guitar hooks – Jeff Beck made his entrance (and what an entrance) with the bitingly unforgettable riff backbone to the Yardbirds’ biggest hit ‘Heart Full Of Soul’. It announced the debut of a guitar genius that posterity would soon rank with Clapton, Page and Hendrix in the pantheon of rock guitar gods – not only for the 60s, but for the ages. The word “legend” doesn’t do Jeff Beck justice. In his long and fascinatingly erratic career, he covered many musical bases, his art ranging from viciously hard and heavy to transcendentally beautiful, everything perfectly played and straight from the heart. He was beyond amazing: “Jeff’s got notes on his guitar no one else has,” said Eric Clapton. Jeff Beck’s first and biggest successes are here on this album: blues-based precursors to the musical dimensions he would explore so satisfyingly for the following fifty years, yet still astounding, still thrilling.

This long-awaited 24-bit digitally remastered version of 'Truth' is released with 8 bonus tracks. Jeff Beck's three singles 'Tallyman', 'Love Is Blue' and 'Hi Ho Silver Lining' (First Stereo Mix) have been added as bonus track along with 'I've Been Drinking' (New Stereo Mix), 'You Shook Me' (Take One Mix), 'Rock My Plimsoul' (Stereo Mix), 'Beck's Bolero' (Mono Single Version with Backwards Guitar), 'Blues Deluxe' (Take 1 Mix) plus the gorgeous ballad 'I've Been Drinking' (B-side on 'Love Is Blue') which was omitted from the original album.

Mastered by Steve Hoffman at Marsh Mastering. SACD Authoring: Stephen Marsh at Marsh Mastering. Jeff Beck's debut solo LP was bound to be a great record with a band featuring talent like Rod Stewart on vocals, Ronnie Wood on guitar plus contributions from Jimmy Page, Nicky Hopkins, Aynsley Dunbar and Keith Moon. The 1968 album got off to a staggering start and peaked at number 15 on the Billboard 200. Astoundingly good for a band that had been utterly unknown in the U.S. just six months earlier.

A year after Les Paul's death, Jeff Beck saluted the guitar pioneer by staging a rousing tribute show to the great man at Paul’s regular stomping ground, the Iridium Jazz Club. Backed by his current running mates the Imelda May Band, Beck enlisted some heavy-hitters for help – Brian Setzer comes in for the rock & roll, Trombone Shorty for the jazz, Gary U.S. Bonds sings some oldies – all the better to get the party started. Despite its title, Rock 'N' Roll Party skews ever so slightly to the old-fashioned swing and standards that were Paul's specialty and with the notable exception of tightly wound versions of “The Train Kept A Rollin’” and “Twenty Flight Rock,” even the rockers feel closer to jump blues than rockabilly. And that’s fine: a tribute to Les Paul's music shouldn’t be greasy, it should be a jumping, joyous blast of nostalgia, which is precisely what this party is.

Blow by Blow typifies Jeff Beck's wonderfully unpredictable career. Released in 1975, Beck's fifth effort as a leader and first instrumental album was a marked departure from its more rock-based predecessors. Only composer/keyboardist Max Middleton returned from Beck's previous lineups. To Beck's credit, Blow by Blow features a tremendous supporting cast. Middleton's tasteful use of the Fender Rhodes, clavinet, and analog synthesizers leaves a soulful imprint. Drummer Richard Bailey is in equal measure supportive and propulsive as he deftly combines elements of jazz and funk with contemporary mixed meters. Much of the album's success is also attributable to the excellent material, which includes Middleton's two originals and two collaborations with Beck, a clever arrangement of Lennon and McCartney's "She's a Woman," and two originals by Stevie Wonder. George Martin's ingenious production and string arrangements rival his greatest work. Beck's versatile soloing and diverse tones are clearly the album's focus, and he proves to be an adept rhythm player.

After a life-threatening car accident forced him to take an extended break, guitarist extraordinaire Jeff Beck re-emerged in 1971 with a new band, a new album (Rough and Ready), and an attempt to merge a soulful Memphis sound with hard rock. 1972's Jeff Beck Group shows that Beck was already moving beyond his soul-rock hybrid and sowing the seeds for his exceptional mid-'70s jazz/rock fusion work. Jeff Beck Group also served as a precursor to Beck's next project, the blues-soul-rock trio Beck, Bogart & Appice. Produced by Booker T. & the M.G.'s guitarist Steve Cropper, Jeff Beck Group contains "Going Down," one of Beck's best-known tracks and a perennial concert favorite, as well as the album-opening highlight "Ice Cream Cakes." An important, transitional album in the career of this stylistically adventurous guitarist.

Following the release of the Jeff Beck Group album in May 1972, the band ventured across Europe for a handful of live appearances that would turn out to be their last. Taped just weeks before the official dissolution of the band, these stunning performances captured in Bremen and London are stacked with delights from unsuspecting sources. The tight, funky groove of Middleton and Chaman, coupled with the fury of Beck and Tench up front with Cozy Powell’s menacing thunder behind the kit, make for compelling listening, but Beck would walk shortly after, leaving history to join the dots and pick up the pieces. London Calling revisits these two iconic performances from the Jeff Beck Group in 1972, just weeks before their demise and recorded for Beat Club in Bremen, Germany on March 25th 1972 and for BBC's In Concert in London on 29th June, 1972. Featuring fully restored and professionally remastered original radio broadcasts. Presented with an 8-page booklet including background notes and timeline photos.

This time for the eight incredible tracks, Jeff brings back the great Max Middleton on keys and Richard Bailey on drums, as well as new additions and future mainstay keyboardist Jan Hammer and the power drums of Michael Narada Walden, plus bassist Wilbur Bascomb. With legendary tracks such as Charles Mingus's "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat," and Jan Hammer's "Blue Wind," Wired soon became a radio and retail staple which has truly endured and stood the test of time. At this point Beck was a tax exile and took up residency in the US, remaining there until his return to the UK in the autumn of 1977. In the spring of 1978, he began rehearsing with ex-Return to Forever bassist Stanley Clarke and drummer Gerry Brown towards a projected appearance at the Knebworth Festival, but this was cancelled after Brown dropped out. Beck toured Japan for three weeks in November 1978 with an ad hoc group consisting of Clarke and newcomers Tony Hymas (keyboards) and Simon Phillips (drums) from Jack Bruce's band.

STUNNING BLOW BY BLOW PERFORMANCE FROM DETROIT 1975 • Following the demise of Beck, Bogart and Appice in April 1974, Beck entered Underhill Studio and met with the group Upp, whom he recruited as backing band for his appearance on the BBC TV programme Guitar Workshop in August ‘74. Beck produced and played on their self-titled debut album and their second album This Way Upp. In October Beck began to record instrumentals at AIR Studios with Max Middleton, bassist Phil Chen and drummer Richard Bailey, using George Martin as producer and arranger. • Jeff Beck's next solo album Blow by Blow evolved from these sessions and showcased Beck's technical prowess in jazz-rock. The album reached number four in the charts and remains Beck's most commercially successful release. Fastidious about overdubs and often dissatisfied with his solos, he returned regularly to AIR Studios until he was satisfied.

SUPERB BROADCAST RECORDING FROM AUSTRALIA 1977 Following the success of his 1975 album Blow By Blow, in May 1976, Jeff Beck returned to the studio and recorded Wired, which paired ex-Mahavishnu Orchestra drummer and composer Narada Michael Walden, and keyboardist Jan Hammer. The album employed a jazz-rock fusion style, which sounded similar to the former work of his two collaborators. To promote the record, Beck joined forces with the Jan Hammer Group and embarked on a seven-month-long world tour, mainly playing North American dates (Beck was a US Tax exile at the time) although towards the end of the jaunt the entourage performed a few shows in Australia.
