SAFT (meaning squash, as in the concentrated liquid made from fruit juice and sugar, which is diluted to make a drink, in Norwegian) is a progressive rock band from Bergen, Norway, with their most active period in the early 70's. They were one of the first Norwegian rock bands to sing in Norwegian Nynorsk (which is based on rural, spoken Norwegian, and is one of four official languages in Norway). The core of the band is the two brothers THUE, Ove and Trygve, who are the only members to be part of both of the band's incarnations, both of which set benchmarks in Norwegian rock.

Blodwyn Pig was formed following guitarist and vocalist Mick Abrahams’ departure from Jethro Tull following the release of their debut album in 1968. Also featuring Jack Lancaster (saxophones, flute & violin), Andy Pyle (bass, vocals) and Ron Berg (drums), Blodwyn Pig fused jazzier elements with blues and rock and swiftly became one of the most popular bands on the UK underground circuit. Their albums 'Ahead Rings Out' (1969) and 'Getting To This' (1970) were both top ten hits and they also enjoyed a hit single with 'Same Old Story'. After Abrahams’ departure in late 1970 to pursue a solo career, he was briefly replaced by former Yes guitarist Peter Banks, but the band soon came to an end. However, in 1974, Mick Abrahams briefly reformed the group, and they recorded a BBC session for John Peel and a memorable performance for the 'In Concert’ programme. This collection gathers together all the albums and singles recorded by Blodwyn Pig for Chrysalis Records in 1969 and 1970, along with the all the surviving sessions in the BBC archives recorded by the band between 1969 and 1974.

When David Bowie and Iggy Pop escaped LA to go Interrailing in the mid-70s, they heard a new European music that was largely devoid of Anglo-American rock influence: the German motorik sound, flashes of jazz, experimentation and electronica. In West Berlin, one of their favourite haunts was Kreuzberg’s Cafe Exil, a smoky hang-out for beats and intellectuals. This is its imaginary soundtrack.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band are an English rock band formed by South African musician Manfred Mann. Their hits include covers of Bruce Springsteen's "For You", "Blinded by the Light" and "Spirit in the Night". After forming in 1971 and with a short hiatus in the late 1980s/early 1990s, the Earth Band continues to perform and tour, as of 2026.

Jack Bruce and Kip Hanrahan's Stuttgart 1991 performance refers to a celebrated, rare live collaboration at the Jazzgipfel festival in Stuttgart, Germany. Fronted by avant-garde composer Kip Hanrahan and featuring legendary Cream bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, the performance was officially unarchived and released as a remastered digital anthology titled Live Anthology, Stuttgart 1991.

Isotope was formed in 1973 by talented guitarist Gary Boyle and originally featured Jeff Clyne on bass, Brian Miller on keyboards and Nigel Morris on drums. Clyne had previously played with Ian Carr’s Nucleus, while Gary Boyle had played with Stomu Yamashta’s East Wind.
