A year after “Live in NYC” (2025), the album that won a Latin Grammy in the Best Latin Jazz/Jazz Album category, the Hamilton de Holanda Trio is releasing another album on 20 May, “Nova”.

Featuring 14 tracks recorded in different parts of the world by Hamilton de Holanda (ten-string mandolin), Salomão Soares (keyboards and Moog) and Thiago Big Rabello (drums), the album “Nova” was conceived with the intention of offering a sensory experience. “You don’t need to know anything about music to enjoy it. It goes straight to the heart and, with every listen, reveals something new. It’s an album to feel, discover little by little and cherish,” explains Hamilton de Holanda.

Opening with the track “Nova alvorada”, the album brings together guests from across the globe in a line-up that includes British musician Anoushka Shankar (sitar player, daughter of Ravi Shankar), saxophonist Eduardo Neves, the Franco-Lebanese trumpeter and pianist Ibrahim Maalouf, bassist Michael Pipoquinha from Ceará, and percussionists Paulinho da Costa, Pedrito Martinez (Cuban musician), Pretinho da Serrinha and Zélia do Prato (samba dancer from the Recôncavo Baiano, honoured in the track “Forrozin de Mestra Zélia”), among others.

Produced by Hamilton de Holanda with Marcos Portinari, the album “Nova” echoes influences and references from Portuguese music (in “Choro fado”), piseiro and brega (in “Por essa eu não esperava”), the band Black Rio (in “Som de baile”), Angolan semba – the theme of “Luanda (Unidos)”, a track recorded by the Hamilton de Holanda Trio with the African singer Paulo Flores, born in Angola and raised in Portugal – and the groove of Djavan in “Sina” (1982), the inspiration for the song “Nasci”.

Other tracks on the album “Nova” include “Até amanhã”, “Sol da noite”, “Mono no Aware” (Hamilton de Holanda’s first collaboration with Salomão Soares), “Frio lá fora”, “Carrossel”, “Pras crianças” and “Presente para sempre”.
