Christmas Sing Along with Mitch is an album by Mitch Miller & The Gang. It was released in 1958 on the Columbia label (catalog nos. CL-1205 and CS-8027).

This Max Roach Riverside date is notable for featuring the great young trumpeter Booker Little and for utilizing Ray Draper's tuba as a melody instrument; tenor saxophonist George Coleman and bassist Art Davis complete the excellent quintet. Highlights include "It's You or No One," "You Stepped Out of a Dream," and Roach's unaccompanied drum piece "Conversation." This is fine music from a group that was trying to stretch themselves beyond hard bop.

"You've Changed" and "I Get Along Without You Very Well" are high art performances from the singer who saw life from the bottom up.

Further Explorations by the Horace Silver Quintet is an album by jazz pianist Horace Silver, released on the Blue Note label in 1958 and containing performances by Silver with Art Farmer, Clifford Jordan, Teddy Kotick, and Louis Hayes.

Recorded in New York in 1958, and released the same year, In Orbit is trumpeter Clark Terry’s sixth album as leader. Featuring Thelonious Monk on Piano, in his only Riverside outing as sideman, the album also features Sam Jones (bass) and Philly Joe Jones (drums). This new edition is released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series and features remastered audio from the original master tapes.

One of the great alto saxophonists to emerge from the hard bop era, Julian "Cannonball" Adderley possessed an exuberant, bright tone that communicated directly and emotionally. With live audiences, his intelligent banter about the music's presentation, combined with wry humor, made him popular.

This soundtrack with the musical cues for Louis Malle's 1958 film Ascenseur Pour L'Échafaud was recorded at Le Poste Parisien Studio in Paris on December 4 and 5, 1957. Jean-Paul Rappeneau, a jazz fan and Malle's assistant at the time, suggested asking Miles Davis to create the film's soundtrack - possibly inspired by the Modern Jazz Quartet's recording for Roger Vadim's Sait-On Jamais (Does One Ever Know), released a few months earlier in 1957. Davis was booked to perform at the Club Saint-Germain in Paris for November 1957. Rappeneau introduced him to Malle, and Davis agreed to record the music after attending a private screening. On December 4, he brought his four sidemen to the recording studio without having had them prepare anything. Davis only gave the musicians a few rudimentary harmonic sequences he had assembled in his hotel room, and, once the plot was explained, the band improvised without any precomposed theme, while edited loops of the musically relevant film sequences were projected in the background.

Well likely most of us know Morgana from her role as Mama Corleone in the Godfather, but after hearing this album it seems she should be more known for her singing. Morgana's voice is positively stunning and effortless, when she sings softly she practically tickles the ear.
