Professeur d'histoire de l'art, présidente du département des études culturelles, et coordinatrice de l'Art History, Interdisciplinary and Intercollegiate Studies University of Massachusetts Lowell, Liana de Girolami Cheney est spécialisée en Renaissance et Maniérisme italiens. Elle a rédigé un livre intitulé Autoportraits de femmes peintres, paru en 2009, et publiera une étude complète sur Giorgio Vasari cette année.
