Rethinking Identity Fusion: A Critical Examination

Rethinking Identity Fusion: A Critical Examination by Metodi Siromahov , Annie Hata
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2024 | 130 Pages | ISBN : 3031469828 | 3.1 MB

Rethinking Identity Fusion presents a critique of Identity Fusion Theory, an identity-based social psychological approach to understanding pro-group extremism. It scrutinises the theory’s main theoretical claims and research methods, exposing serious inconsistencies and gaps in how the theory handles the concept of identity and in its research programme. The book demonstrates the flattening of the theory’s main concept, “identity fusion”, and the general state of confusion in the recent literature as to the theory’s claims and predictions.

Challenging Assumptions Around Dementia: User-led Research and Untold Stories by Rosalie Ashworth , Sue Fyvel , Alyson Hill , Chris Maddocks , Masood Qureshi , David Ross , Stuart Hay , Martin Robertson , Willy Gilder , Winnie Henry , Myra Lamont , Agnes Houston , Fred S. Wilson
English | PDF EPUB (True) | 2023 | 154 Pages | ISBN : 3031272226 | 10.3 MB

This book explores the expectations surrounding dementia, what it ‘looks like’ and how people have been treated by others. It aims to raise awareness of the different types of dementia, and how they impact the brain, body, and lived experience, including experience of Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular Dementia, Posterior Cortical Atrophy, Frontotemporal Dementia, Semantic Dementia, and Lewy Body Dementia. The co-authors reflect on their experience with informal and formal care, before finishing with a focus on the spectrum of dementia research from clinical trials to user-led research. Throughout the book, co-authors have shared personal stories of how dementia has affected them and people with lived experience of dementia share what they wish people knew about living with the disease.

Co-produced by people with lived experience of dementia, academics and health care professionals, this book is an accessible resource about dementia from the perspective of people actively involved in the field and essential reading for healthcare professionals wishing to learn more about the experience of this neuroprogressive condition, as well as policymakers, and members of the public.

Design of Observational Studies by Paul R. Rosenbaum
English | PDF | 2010 | 232 Pages | ISBN : 1461424860 | 2.3 MB

An observational study is an empiric investigation of effects caused by treatments when randomized experimentation is unethical or infeasible. Observational studies are common in most fields that study the effects of treatments on people, including medicine, economics, epidemiology, education, psychology, political science and sociology. The quality and strength of evidence provided by an observational study is determined largely by its design. Design of Observational Studies is both an introduction to statistical inference in observational studies and a detailed discussion of the principles that guide the design of observational studies.

Statistical Learning from a Regression Perspective by Richard A. Berk
English | PDF(True) | 2016 | 364 Pages | ISBN : 3319829696 | 7.9 MB

This textbook considers statistical learning applications when interest centers on the conditional distribution of the response variable, given a set of predictors, and when it is important to characterize how the predictors are related to the response. As a first approximation, this can be seen as an extension of nonparametric regression.

Der Konsument: Homo Emoticus statt Homo Oeconomicus? by Marie-Kristin Franke
Deutsch | PDF | 2014 | 36 Pages | ISBN : 3658051884 | 1.7 MB

Discursive Psychology and Disability by Jessica Nina Lester
English | PDF,EPUB | 2021 | 238 Pages | ISBN : 3030717593 | 17.4 MB

This book explores how discursive psychology (DP) research can be applied to disability and the everyday and institutional constructions of bodymind differences. Bringing together both theoretical and empirical work, it illustrates how DP might be leveraged to make visible nuanced understandings of disability and difference writ large. The authors argue that DP can attend to how such realities are made relevant, dealt with, and negotiated within social practices in the study of disability.
