Two melancholic romances intertwined. Its world keeps expanding with a generous gaze as more and more people are caught looking outside in longing for something they can’t quite have. A tale of three people lost at night full of desire and uncertainty and a director willing to allow grace to unexpectedly find them. It made me think of miniature version of Resnais’ Coeurs. Also Celine Bozon cinematography remains French cinema’s secret weapon, if asked today I’d be willing to say movies were made so Ropert and Bozon could put Louise Bourgoin walking thru night streets in that redcoat of hers. Among many things this a true treat for mise en scene connoisseurs.
