It’s the year 1968. The young high school teacher Knut Pedersen (Kristoffer Joner) arrives in Larvik dreaming of a bourgeois existence, but also with an inner discord and unrest which pretty soon push him towards the seductive Marxist-Leninist party AKP. Pedersen is a gentle, intellectual man, with doubts about the revolutionary ideas.
Only when he meets the young, newly arrived medical doctor Nina Skåtøy (Ane Dahl Torp), this absurd idea seems to become conceivable. Soon they are lovers. Their intense relationship lasts until a fatal annual meeting in AKP, which, for security reasons, is held in Sweden.
