Молодая девушка, архитектор по образованию и по призванию, долго и упорно трудится, дабы получить жильё. И вот наконец-то ей достается новая квартира в районе Черемушек. На радостях, она перевозит туда все свои вещи, одним словом устраивает свое гнёздышко. И вот в один прекрасный день, прямо у неё перед носом, падает целая стена её прекрасной долгожданной квартиры. Молодая архитектор в шоке! У неё, у молодого архитектора, никак не укладывается в голове, как такое могло случиться?

A gentle satire on the lives and aspiration of young Soviets, the story follows the on-again off-again romance of three young couples, as they battle bureaucracy, petty corruption and bizarre complications to acquire apartments in the sought-after “Cherry Town” – a new showcase estate in suburban Moscow.

Cherry Town est une délicieuse comédie musicale, écrite par Chostakovitch en 1959, dont l’action se situe dans la banlieue de Moscou. Le compositeur, souhaitait rendre un hommage à Broadway. Datant de 1963, le film est basé sur cette comédie musicale, qui connut à l’époque un important succès populaire et commercial. Satire de la vie et des aspirations de trois jeunes couples vivant en Union Soviétique - qui se débattent avec l’administration, la bureaucratie, la corruption et toutes les complications possibles pour acquérir des appartements de rêve dans « Cherry Town »
