Spot can work in either of two modes: analogue or digital. In digital mode, AVI, MPEG, WMV or other standard digital video files can be read directly into the video window and controlled via the keyboard. You can also spot against audio-only (WAV or MP3) files, and even select a separate video and audio source.

The user interface has been redesigned in version 4 to make it easier to control digital video playback, with the combined digital/analogue video window now forming part of the main screen.
Advanced DVD subtitle creation
Spot's DVD Bitmap Renderer gives you precise control over the placement and appearance of bitmapped subtitles for most professional DVD authoring systems. Five anti-alias effects, border width, kerning, leading and transparency levels are all user-definable. Spot's unique Live Preview window lets you view the finished product before saving the bitmaps to disk.

Including automatic shot cut detection, an audio waveform display, fast and easy global formatting, AutoReplace, enhanced comments editing and management tool, and true telecined masters cue conversion.
Comprehensive language support
Built-in support for the following character sets: Western, Central and Eastern European, Baltic, Cyrillic, Greek, Turkish, Thai, Arabic, Hebrew and Asian. Indic languages are also supported through the use of custom, public domain fonts.
