The mid 70s Beatles? ... well, this is a strong statement ... but they were one of the best British bands ever. They were able to write great tunes with hilarious lyrics and innovative arrangements performed with instrumental expertise and torrents of vitality. What would you expect from a band formed by one of the best 60s songwriters (), the musical force behind Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders () and 2 of the first avant-garde rockers ()?, a band that invented one of their own instruments? (a sort of guitar device called ), a band that wrote b sides a lot better that other artists a sides? (). They sang some of the best vocal harmonies in Rock history, they were at the same time pop & avant-garde, serious & funny, a singles & album band and... they were not the mid 70s Beatles, they just were .




This 2 CD set collects their first 2 albums for Jonathan King's UK Label (), remastered and expanded with all the relative singles (A's & B's)... and their best efforts were still to come! (the superbs Original Soundtrack and How Dare You! ).
