During their brief (1969-71) time together, Eric Burdon and WAR rode a wave of musical energy that soared and, ultimately, crashed. The sheer volatility of this collaboration was part of its power - the pairing of a veteran British blues-rock singer with a Danish harmonica player and six Afro-American R&B/jazz players was an unlikely one from the start. Burdon and his bandmates declared "WAR" when "peace" was the popular cry - and then spread a message of love with ecstatic abandon…
