[OST] - Global Metal (2008)

Global Metal Soundtrack
2008 | MP3 Joint Stereo | Lame 3.97 Extreme (avg. 224 kbps) | Label: Universal Music Canada | No Cover
Heavy Metal, Black Metal

Scot McFayden and Sam Dunn keep introducing metal to people all over the world. The funny part is that some (or most) of those people are part of the headbanging horde. The West produces enough metal to keep us busy but at the same time makes us a little lazy to explore. Not to worry, two guys with a camera from Toronto did the research for you already. Actually, there was so much to dig into, that along with the big names only pure extremities made it to this double-CD soundtrack to “Global Metal”.

This release takes you somewhere you might have never been before. It’s a collection of songs from all over the world, including India, Iran, Israel and Indonesia. North America and Western Europe are also represented. Being impressive already the list is complete with a band from the Faroe Islands. Not only a fine compilation in terms of music, it is also a great starting point for anyone interested in either progressive metal from China or Japanese avant garde black, as the booklet contains tons of info.

This release is good both as an addition to the Global Metal movie and as a stand-alone eye-opening collector’s item. There’s a lot of amazing music out there. The stories behind it are equally striking and remarkable. The development of metal is very diverse all over the world, in some countries people risk going to jail just for playing it. We are all different, but we are in the same boat. “Global Metal Soundtrack” is an adventure any of us should take. “From India to Iran and from China to the Faroe Islands – it’s clear that metal is no longer just a Western phenomenon. It’s future is global”. - Scot McFayden and Sam Dunn
