King Biscuit honors the golden age of Southern Rock with the release of Molly Hatchet's Greatest Hits Live, a new CD featuring a previously unreleased 1982 performance by the beloved sextet.

In the late '70s and early '80s, while the face of rock was ostensibly being altered by the rise of punk and new wave, Molly Hatchet thrived by playing a hard-charging, guitar-heavy brand of blues-based rock built on the seminal achievements of such pioneering Southern combos as Lynyrd Skynyrd (who shared Molly Hatchet's Jacksonville, Florida roots) and the Allman Brothers Band. Distinguished by their imposing three-guitar sound-not to mention the colorful Viking imagery of their album covers-Molly Hatchet kept the Southern rock flag flying during a period when many observers had written the genre off.

Molly Hatchet's Greatest Hits Live, originally recorded for radio's syndicated King Biscuit Flower Hour on March 12, 1982 at the Los Angeles Palladium, finds the band barreling through much of its vintage repertoire. Along with such boogie anthems as "Flirtin' with Disaster", "Gator Country", "Beatin' the Odds" and "Bounty Hunter", the 12-song set includes fiery covers of the Bobby Womack/Rolling Stones classic "It's All Over Now" and the Allman Brothers Band's "Dreams I'll Never See".
Greatest Hits Live features Molly Hatchet's second recording lineup, with singer Jimmy Farrar, who had replaced original front man Danny Joe Brown in 1980, and the original three-guitar frontline of Dave Hlubek, Steve Holland, and Duane Roland. The set also features a guest appearance by the Tower of Power horn section, which lend their celebrated chops on "Lady Luck".

Molly Hatchet's Greatest Hits Live continues the King Biscuit label's mission of releasing historic performances from the massive tape archives of the classic syndicated King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, which since 1973 has presented concerts by many of music's most popular and influential artists.
