Ataulfo Alves de Souza (Miraí, may 2, 1909 – 20 April 1969) was a composer and singer of Brazilian samba, one of seven children of a viola player, improviser and accordionist of the Zona da Mata called "Captain" Severino. When he was eight years old, already wrote verses. For ten years, lost his father and his mother was, with the children, live in the Centre of Miraí. At eighteen, settled in Rio de Janeiro accompanying a doctor to which worked day and night as co-driver of pharmacy. The nineteen years played guitar, cavaquinho and Mandolin. Married Judite, coming the couple have five children. Their twenties began composing and became Director of harmony of Talk, block organized by staff of the neighborhood. In 1933, Admiral recorded the samba Friday, his first composition to be released on disc. Days later, Carmen Miranda, recorded lost time, ensuring their entry into the artistic world.
