The code of witchcraft that comes inscribed inside the CD may serve you as a key to circumvent the aural terrain that the new album from the all time marvellous German ensemble provides, or perhaps not, as the album steps in several different confines where the listener may leave a bit of his logic reasoning behind anticipated by a greater truth exposed by this music. The latest album from Inade comes as a great study on the beyond, the double face of things and the ignote dimensions that lays in the border of reason and the limits of space and time.
Inade is certainly a band that transcends all the boundaries that remits to the Dark ambient paradigm, its a band that continuously redefines its direction with each album and at the same time with each one of their creations redesigns the deep perspective that lies within this music, a paragon in which everybody else is compared. Each work has come as complex study and as a meticulous journey in the verges of the unknown, of the latent or even the horrific. With “The incarnation of the solar architects” Inade continues this tradition, this time submerging the listener in some epic journey of Lovecraftian brooding that mixes elegant semi orchestral details combined with dense organic drone structures formed in that colossal manifestation of somber beauty, filigree and contour with which Inade has marked its own style and aural dimension. Now this last album manifests a major irruption of other elements that add this unequivocal flavour of mysterious ritualism that opens the gates not for only distant worlds lying into the confines of space and time but of the mind and perhaps other non perceivable dimensions.

The tribalism juxtaposed over the more classic formula of spatial and earthly layers of drone and accompanied by subtle touches of orchestral peal will induce this ominous atmosphere of deep mystery and uncertainty. The atmosphere is not spineless or effectist but channelled to transmit into the listener the opaque quality of an alternate reality, of a dimension that lies beyond things and continuously underlies in the flow of time. The work as usual in the Inade tradition tries to be as descriptive as possible to elucidate a path for the listener to follow, a strange tale that remits to myth and reality in a sole amalgam of unspeakable certainties. Opener “The engine of the mind” probably remits to the creation of the world as projection, a thesis of reality in where things are not really here but inside and the form is merely a product of this process. The morphology of this track transcends the prototypical Dark ambience of mere portraits of darkness and eeriness and takes to a next level of monumental manoeuvres, generating a set of sounds that is related with cosmos and unconscious, a place where material evidence and invisibility start to cohabit in a rare symbioses that results alien yet strangely familiar to the listener. The sound of the lethargy from Eons is slowly awakened and the reanimation starts to unfold the universal regime. Till here everything is more or less parallel but with “Abandoned Inferno” the cosmological incognita exposed starts to frequent a rare companion, the invocation. The mesmeric tribal rhythms reproduce the summoning of a vast force that persists way beyond time and space and which manifests through strange calls. The track progress in a series of movements that alternate the persistence from the drums with the morphing quality of the drones that combines the textures from the Space forces Vs the dynamics of earthly movements. The listener is slowly engulfed in this deep call that mysteriously involved him in the ritualism that it does mysteriously evocates.

The aural resources employed add multiple tonalities, textures, tones and timbres to create an atmospheric set that is living just in front of the listener and not merely resonating as an abstraction, the grandeur of the backgrounds created by drones and the ubiquity of the progression really creates a sensation of intrigue and visionary transmission. Voices appears scarcely through the work, always deformed by distortion and even unintelligible but evoking the intention of reproducing a symbol, a call, a projection of something that transcends the mere verbalization. Tracks like “A Lefthanded Sign” and “The World Behind The World” attest this faith. In here the atmospheres are subtly changed in its elements. More fire associated and aerial but preserving a clear rhythmic element that directs its unfold such as the bells and beating pulse of “A Lefthanded Sign” or the bizarre tribal hums joined by the drums. Everything shifts its appearence, the drums theirselves, only vortex of material resonance change its course and tonality, switch in different contours and the ambience always undulates as waves of an alien sea. The orchestral implementation is subdued and obscured but its apparition is active and concise for moments, notice the incidence of powerful and majestic winds accompanied by didgeridoos and other aerial associated instruments in tracks like “Altar to the unknown” or the “Tellurian vortex” or the ghostly apparition of chorals in the tense tranquility from “The Veil Of Eternal Unity”.

The participation of organic components is abundant and most seem to have been taken from original instruments whether cult or profane, synthesized structures and elegant sequences with backgrounds generated by ominous drones that mix all the elements in a hazy maremagnum of delicate contours that always maintains a course of action and direction with importance given to rhythm and dynamics. The mix of crude tribal sequences and subtle orchestral instrumentation with the more electronic defined parts adds a touch of exuberance and splendour to the work that doesnt diminish its dark beauty. And definitively to highlight is the fact that the listener is introduced into the core of the sound and its profound forms and is not merely ranked as a distant participant, although this work acts more as a kidnapper than a seducer, one is not sure when the magic that it does evoke has involved us into its dimension. The enigma results insoluble in the end, and the greater aeon (Aios Teleos) maintains the never ending incognito in his hand… Highly Recommended work!
