Jean-Joseph-Nicolas-Guillaume Lekeu, Belgian composer (Heusy, Verviers, january 20, 1870 - Angers, january 21, 1894).
In early age he studied with the village organist, then in Poitiers (where his family lived from 1879). He started to compose music in 1885. From 1888, when he lived in Paris with his family, he studied with G.Vallin and, in 1889, with the great composer and organist César Franck. At the death of Franck, in 1890, he started to take lessons from Vincent D'Indy. He won the second prize of the Prix the Rome in 1891 with the Andromède cantata. He died at the age of 24, caused by typhus.

Amédée-Ernest Chausson, French composer (Paris, january 20, 1855 - Limay, Yvelines, june 10, 1899).
He came from a rich family, but not devoted to music. He studied law and only at 15 he began to study piano. Later, he studied with Jules Massenet e César Franck. From 1883, after the marriage, he devoted himself to composition, writing some operas (Jeanne d'Arc, 1879-80), Esmeralda (after Victor Hugo's Notre Dame de Paris, 1880), Le Roi d'Arthus (post.,1903), stage music for The Tempest by Shakespeare (1888), three symphonic poems for orchestra (Viviane, 1882; Solitude dans le bois, 1886; Soir de fête, 1897), a Symphony (1890), the Poème for violin and orchestra (1896), chamber music (among others, the Concerto in D op.21, for violin, piano and string quartet, 1889-91), piano music and choral music. He died after a bicycle fall at the age of 44.
