Progressive Rock

The debut from XsavioR is an attractive and intelligent CD from some of Sweden’s best musicians. Putting their music into a specific genre isn’t easy. Definitely progressive! However at times you hear and feel hard rock, aor, metal, fusion and maybe even a little jazz. It is definitely varied enough to satisfy the taste’s of fans of bands like Mind’s Eye, Flower King’s, A.C.T., Saga, Yes, Queensrÿche and maybe even Queen.

XsavioR possibly could be called the thinking man or woman’s music with its complex arrangements, unique but outstanding vocals, lots of melodic hooks and excellent instrumentation and production. As it did me, it may take the listener repeated listens, demanding a lot of attention to appreciate the depth of this music and what it is all about.

The Swedish band XsavioR began with Minds Eye leader Daniel Flores (drums) asking Vocalist Goran Edman (Madison, Glory, Crossfade, Malmsteen) and Tear’s Of Anger guitarist Benny Jansson all having worked together previously, to put a band together. To complete the lineup Daniel invited one of his best childhood friends, Matt Norberg (keyboards) and a former music school friend bass player Mathias Garnas to join. After months of hard work the band finally came up with the twelve songs they all thought would be right for XsavioR’s debut CD. After recording the individual player’s parts in different studios and completing the mixing, demos were sent out and finally the band signed a deal with the Swedish label Atenzia Records.
There are a lot of amazing and wonderful tunes on the CD like the ballad “Take Me Home” and the three part “Taj Mahal” with nice guitar solos. The tracks “Lex The Fly” and “April Skies” are comprised of thick layers of vocals and impressive keyboards and Benny’s guitar is on fire and dominates on “Material World” and the final track “XsavioR”.
Whether you’re into progressive rock or not it’s definitely worth giving XsavioR a spin and deciding about the music for yourself. Personally I have to congratulate these fine artists for doing it their way and giving the listener something different and refreshing. XsavioR is the future of progressive music and I think there’s no turning back now. ~ Review by Kathy
