History from Wikipedia:
Discovered: In May 1968 a very young musician named Wolfgang Michels with the pseudonym "One Plus None" landed a No. 2 hit in England with "Desert Walker", a song produced by himself, topped only by the Rolling Stones at No. 1. The blues musician Alexis Korner invited Michels to London and took him under his wings.
Percewood's Onagram: The psychedelic rock band Percewood's Onagram, with Michels as singer and guitarist, caused a sensation in the early 1970s as the first German indie band; they produced four albums, with lyrics and music all by Michels. After the band split up, Michels returned to London where he appeared at the Marquee Club among others.
Award: He moved to San Francisco, and as the first German musician he recorded two solo albums in California, in collaboration with Neil Young and producer and engineer John Nowland. For "Full Moon California Sunset" Michels was awarded the "Deutscher Schallplattenpreis" in 1978.
German Chart Hits: In the mid eighties Michels released three solo albums with German lyrics, produced in collaboration with the German artist Rio Reiser, then singer of Ton, Steine Scherben. Various singles followed, including the 1990 hit "Dancing On The Edge Of Life". The song held a position in the German charts for weeks in the nineties. Several albums by Michels and Percewood's Onagram appeared as CDs.
Covered: In 2003 Warner Strategic Marketing/Warner Music Germany re-released the complete Michels/Percewood's Onagram album collection as digitally remastered CDs, with previously unreleased bonus tracks. Two 'Best Of' albums were also released. In the same year the German hip-hop band Fettes Brot (Fat Bread) scored a chart hit with the Michels/Reiser track "Ich bin müde" (I'm tired). The newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung praised it as one of the best songs of the year.
Comeback: The studio album "Zuhause" (At Home) was released in April 2008. 14 new songs were recorded at the Hamburg home studio of Franz Plasa. Udo Lindenberg tipped his hat, commenting: "World class", Musikexpress claimed the release to be a surprise comeback for Michels: "A dozen songs for eternity". He performed as a special guest for the Neil Young concert in Hamburg in August 2008. He also played with the US musicians Beth Hart and Joan Armatrading. In 2009 his many concert and TV activities continued, also touring with Neil Young all over Germany in June.

Biography from www.percewoods-onagram.de:
Percewood's Onagram, a band of German and American musicians, was founded by singer, guitarist & songwriter Wolfgang Michels in a small, grey industrial city in Northern Germany in 1969. At that time nearly all German bands were just playing the English and American charts up and down, only copying their originals. But a handful of German bands were just starting to experiment and trying to find their own styles – mainly electronical music, later described as "Krautrock" (more an insult than a striking description or label), such as Amon Düül, Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream …
Percewood's Onagram had already found their own, original style of music and it wasn't "Krautrock" at all, they sounded more like an English or American band. P.O.'s music is a strange and unique combination of R&B, Beat, Psychedelic, Folk and (garage, livingroom, pre-wave) Rock. Catchy, timeless songs, rough and beautiful at the same time, with pretentious, sometimes provoking critical, but again timeless lyrics, presented by the band in perfect English and unusual phrasing and backed up by strong acoustic & electric guitars, piano, harmonica, drums and bass. (A combination and sound of instruments that many present bands go back to …)
On their first LP, released 1969, Alexis Korner described Percewood's Onagram's music in his liner notes as follows:
"That was a strange sound – fiercely nostalgic – it had the feel of the late 20's, it had the feel of Isherwood's 'Goodbye To Berlin'. But what made it strange for me was that it also had a bit of Dylan, a bit of Jagger, a bit of The Band and a lot of you!". Between 1969 and 1974 The group released four albums on their own label and where the first in Germany to distribute and promote independently. During this time they appeared a few times on TV, were interviewed & presented by European radio stations and gave concerts in- and outside Germany. But, all in all Percewood's Onagram were totally underrated, undervalued at their time.
The group disbanded in late 1974 but since then remained a rumor, mysterious and legendary, often quoted in press articles & dictionarys about German Rock up to now as "one of the most original & potential German bands", "ahead of their time", "one of the few German supergroups", "a must for Jam & Doors fans", "a cult band" … etc.
The records and mastertapes disappeared and were rediscovered only a few months ago & now re-released, the complete songs of all four original LP's as well as rare and previously unreleased recordings. They radiate a certain magic and are documents of very early German rock music.
Since the split of Percewood's Onagram, their leader, singer, songwriter & guitarist Michels – one of the best young german songwriters – is persecuting a successful solo career. Meanwhile he recorded 2 albums in California / USA ("Full Moon California Sunset" 1976; "Crazy Enough" 1978) and 3 albums in Germany, with german lyrics.
