Los Lobos' remake of the title song topped the charts, as did this album, which went on to sell two million copies. The result has been something of a career dilemma for the band, who went back to being a critically acclaimed, modest seller afterward."

Los Lobos was going upscale – they were playing 5 consecutive nights at The Palace in Hollywood. I bought tickets. Inbetween buying the tickets and going to the show, the title song went to #1. Suddenly it was a scene. A then-unknown named Dwight Yoakam opened for them. Tighter jeans, I had never seen. Bought his EP the next day.
