An incredible find from eBay. In great shape (save 2 sides). If you like the noise from a needle being dragged across vinyl, you'll love this. Oh, and Ella sounds great, too.

From the bowels of eBay comes this lovely 7" 45 rpm album. My sniper paid off. It's an actual box set of four 7" disks that were in as fine a condition as you could expect. They looked unplayed. Alas, disk 4 had an ugly scratch on each side. You'll enjoy the sound of the vinyl for sure on each of these. Lots of pops and buzzes that appeared on each rip attempt. So I left almost everything in.

Presented for historical purposes only. Definitely not for headphones.

From wikipedia:
"Ella Sings Gershwin is a 1950 studio album by Ella Fitzgerald, accompanied by the pianist Ellis Larkins. Issued on DL5300 on the Decca label, this was Fitzgerald's first album. Originally on 10" vinyl, which preceded album releases on 12" vinyl, it featured eight tracks. The complete album was combined with Fitzgerald's 1954 album Songs in a Mellow Mood and re-issued on CD in 1994 by MCA Records on the GRP Jazz label under the title Pure Ella. Fitzgerald released two other albums of all Gershwin material, Ella Fitzgerald Sings the George and Ira Gershwin Songbook (1959) and Nice Work If You Can Get It (1983)."

From allmuisc:
Review by Scott Yanow
"Ella Fitzgerald's very first LP (a ten-inch) was this gem. In duets with pianist Ellis Larkins, eight Gershwin songs are given intimate and lightly swinging treatment and the results are quite memorable with the singer heard at her most expressive. Fortunately all of this music has since been reissued on CD by GRP as part of Pure Ella."
