The Stars: A New Way to See Them (repost)

H. A. Rey, "The Stars: A New Way to See Them"
English | 1976 | ISBN: 0395248302 | 160 pages | Djvu | 5,5 MB

This is a clear, vivid text with charts and maps showing the positions of the constellations the year round.
Written by the author of Curious George, this hefty guide to stars, constellations, and planets in the night sky was first published in 1952 and revised several times, though the current book is evidently the first to be called the second edition.

A star on the jacket proclaims “updated star and solar system information.” Inside, additions include an introductory note on Pluto, which explains the difference between a planet and a dwarf planet, as well as a paragraph on the Kuiper Belt. Information on the solar system and the asteroid belt has been revised in the light of Pluto’s reclassification. In addition, the planetary tables have been updated through 2016. The bibliography was not updated, however, and it includes no books from the last 10 years. Still, the new edition is recommended to replace old ones in astronomy collections.
