The FBI Spied On Ancient Astronaut Theorist

As a former news reporter, I am used to researching countless government documents in search of a key word, sentence or paragraph that will shed some light on a really hot story.

The existence of ancient astronauts, or extraterrestrial visitors who allegedly helped shape our world’s civilizations and religions is one such story, especially today when UFOs and so-called alien abductions have morphed into a vibrant new age religion.

So when I discovered a four-page declassified top secret FBI document carefully recording every word of an obscure Ufologist giving a talk in a small auditorium in 1960, it caught my attention. This is the same FBI that claimed at the time it had no interest in UFOs and that they were just natural phenomena, man-made aircraft or hoaxes. Upon closely scrutinizing the documents, to my surprise I found that the individual the FBI was spying on was presenting a concise ancient-astronaut theory that included scientific and technological facts that wouldn’t be discovered for more than 50 years.

It was then that I decided to share my findings with those like-minded individuals that might find this vintage Ufologist’s take on ancient astronauts as interesting as I did. Unlike today’s ancient astronaut theorists, this unnamed Ufologist offered concrete motives for the extraterrestrial visitors as well as the governments and institutions that denied their existence at all costs.

This report is concise and to the point and I’ve concluded it with another document I recently happened upon in the FBI’s vault that is relevant to this report. It is a hand-written note by J. Edgar Hoover himself acknowledging the Bureau’s desire to examine the “flying discs” that were in the possession of the U. S. Army. I’ve included copies of these documents at the end of this report I chose to name “The Ancient Astronaut Papers.”

Cordially,
