I love this series. Rose Gardner has grown so much in each of these stories and they've taken place over the course of a few months. She has found love and lost it. She has faced tragedy and risen above it. She has been dealt the worst hand and yet has managed to win the jackpot. The best thing about this series is how much stronger she's gotten. In this installment, she really shows that not only has she grown a pair, but they might be the biggest cajones in Fenton County. Face down a criminal mastermind and have him following directions and eating out of the palm of her hand? Check. Tell off the snippity nosy know it all, at church no less? Check. Manage to have a civil conversation with your ex about your life? Uh, not so much. However, the fact that she's able to see him and speak to him without bawling like a baby or stuttering and slobbering on herself like a fool says a lot. Rose Gardner has become a woman of her own and does not allow anyone to tell her what to do or who to be. I love this Rose Gardner and I can't wait to see who she becomes next.
