The Course aims at understanding in depth the concepts of quality & its evolution as a major aspect of competition. It also describes quality as proposed by various Management thinkers worldwide who had played a significant role in giving the concepts of quality its present form. Moreover, the course focuses on the concepts of Total Quality Management beginning with its scope, the principles that it is based upon followed by its Managerial perspective. In the next chapter, course explains the Statistical Process Control Charts and other QC techniques. This is followed by highlighting the TQM tools incorporated in the industry and the systems like Kaizen, lean, poka-yoke, etc. and their utility in the quality improvement. The final part of the course deals with the Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) and its need in the industries worldwide.
